Night Court – The Hole Truth

Abby (Melissa Rauch) presiding over a trash fight case. Julianne (Wendie Malick) is the prosecutor and Dan (John Larroquette) is the defendant. There is a garbage strike that is putting everyone on edge according to Dan and the newspaper.

Abby dismisses the case. Wyatt (Nyambi Nyambi) says people are losing their minds as he tries to clean and disinfect the courtroom. Gurgs (Lacretta) thinks they are all overreacting, while Julianne and Dan talk about how they would rather have a blackout and share memories of being stuck in them.

As they leave, Abby says she is nervous there are two of them now. She also comments about Wyatt cleaning and makes a Mr. Clean joke. He says he is a neat ally and compares himself to a vampire while Gurgs says that at least vampires leave.

As Wyatt continues to freak out about the garbage strike, Flobert (Gary Anthony Williams) comes in covered in trash and says it has been a day. Abby thinks it is because of the strike, of which he is unaware.

After another case about a man going through the trash of celebrities (where Abby gets a gift bag from Paris Hilton’s dog’s quinceanera and Julianne makes fun of Kathy Griffin), Julianne and Dan continue to talk about the strike and end up making plans together. He doesn’t quite trust her and tells her as much.

Bert (Betsy Sodaro) the custodian comes in, leading to Abby and Wyatt talking about what they think she does with the trash. She tells them that she will show them what to do with the trash and shows them the hole they throw it in. Abby is confused by it and makes a snarky comment, causing her and Bert to fight. Bert ends up going on strike with her coworker Giuseppe. As they leave, Abby comments on Giuseppe’s name.

Abby tells everyone about the hole and they inform her that they were all aware, just like they were with brat summer. She then shows them a wheel of cleaning and makes them each spin it to take on a chore. Wyatt wants one where he can make bacteria scream on its way to hell.

Julianne and Dan get back from their time together and seem to be getting along while Wyatt begins to dance.

As Gurgs cleans, Fobert runs in, freaking out over the garbage and what to do with it all. Wyatt gives him more, so Gurgs takes him away to handle it.

Abby is thrilled with how clean everything is and tells Dan as much. However, Wyatt is doing his cleaning, which upsets Abby. Bert thinks Dan is on their side and he agrees, even though Abby thinks it is BS.

Abby asks Bert why she is so angry. It turns out that Bert is mad that Abby doesn’t care about her alligator. Abby asks Dan about it, but he is aware of it and even knows her name. This leads to the custodians thinking of him as their king. He says they need to banish the wheel.

Abby and Wyatt continue to talk about the strike and what to do when a balloon with garbage tied to it floats down the hall. They go to investigate and see Flobert and Gurgs taking garbage, tying it to balloons and floating them out the window.

Abby wants to do something to make it up to Bert and get the custodians working again. She decides to go through her trash to find answers, even though Wyatt thinks it is weird. Meanwhile, Gurgs and Flobert continue to talk trash—literally.

Dan is now obsessed with his power, which caused him to miss a date with Julianne. She is upset about this, but he wants her help to deal with the strike. She resists his help at first, but then they run off together to find ear drops Dan wants.

Abby goes through the dumpster while Wyatt watches and makes fun of her. She tries to get him to help by pretending to be eaten by a garbage monster, but he knows she is lying. She gets stuck for real and as he gives her his hand, she pulls him in. He is upset about it, but says he is surviving.

Julianne has the ear drops for Dan, but instead puts him in a trash chute where he gets stuck. She walks away while using the drops.

Wyatt and Abby find out that Bert’s alligator died and feel bad. Dan is still stuck in the chute and says to toss them his ear drops if they find them.

Abby holds a funeral for Todd the alligator, which everyone attends. Bert has an America flag since Todd was a military alligator. Wyatt tosses it into the hole saying, see you later, alligator.

Abby says the strike is over and they all talk about the memories of the past few weeks. There is a blackout due to Wyatt tossing the alligator into the hole. Dan and Julianne make plans to enjoy it as the episode comes to a close.
