No Lonely Hearts – No Lonely Holidays
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) It’s “us.” We’re all so passionate about music and songwriting and we all come from very different backgrounds with different influences so when we all get in the studio together, we all really let that show. It’s definitely very pop driven and influenced by classic “boy band” style, but we definitely always want to give it a very current 2022 sound.
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) Coming from such different backgrounds we all have our own individual musical influences. As a group we definitely look up to the boy bands that paved the way for us, (Backstreet, NSYNC, Boyz II Men) but you might also be able to hear some Michael Jackson and other 90’s influences in our music as well. As a boyband its undeniable for us to also look up to some of the biggest K-Pop groups right now that are really setting the bar incredibly high – BTS especially.
Q) Your upcoming EP No Lonely Holidays comes out soon! What made you want to add to the wonderful holiday songs out?
A) Yes! We’re so excited about this. Our EP No Lonely Holidays actually just dropped on all platforms so make sure to check it out! We knew for months that we wanted to make something special for the Holidays. Originally, the EP was going to be a collection of covers but we felt inspired one night and hopped in the studio and went to work on an original as well. We just wanted to put out something “feel good” for the holidays and we hope that we could add some joy to our listener’s holiday season.
Q) The EP features two cover songs and one original. How did you decide on the songs you would cover?
A) It is a three song EP, but we did want to make sure that there was a stylistic “range” to listen to. “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” is just a fun song and holiday staple and “Mary, Did You Know” was one we picked because we really wanted to put together a more intricate arrangement of harmonies.
Q) The third song on the album is named after the title of the EP. When it comes to songwriting, what is your process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) All of us really enjoy the songwriting process, but I think we all have our own methods and sometimes we even stray from that. It really depends. Sometimes we’ll hop in the studio and listen to beats that we find to see if any melody ideas strike and sometimes, we’ll be having normal conversations and we’ll “accidentally” say a potential song concept which is always super cool. Whatever the method, it’s always so neat to see the process work from start to finish.
Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) We actually are super thankful to have a big say in our music production. The first couple songs that we released were actually given to us by some great producers we’ve worked with, but since then we’ve really been working on our songwriting and style as a whole. With that, we’re so excited to call these next projects truly “our own” and something we’re so proud of. This holiday EP was the first taste of our own writing but the next EP we’ve got coming is something we’ve worked so hard on, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
Q) With the holidays approaching, are you looking forward to performing the EP live?
A) We can’t wait! One of our favorite things to do is perform our music and there’s nothing better than seeing the true reaction people have to us when we perform. Getting to perform this holiday EP live is going to be nothing different. We can’t wait to share our music with more people. The season is limited so we want to make sure it has its run while it can!
Q) What are some of your personal favorite holiday traditions?
A) Spending time with family is a big one for all of us. We’re all such family-oriented people so it’s always nice to reconnect during the season. Also, decorating and getting to see some crazy displays is always such a fun time. We pitched in to decorate the house for the holidays and it was just such a nice time to forget about all the stress of daily life and enjoy time with each other, as cheesy as that may sound.
Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) So many people! I think each of us probably has a list. Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Tate McRae and The Kid Laroi to name a few. We can’t wait to start working on some collabs in the very near future.
Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?
A) Social media is the closest possible way for us to connect with our fans and meet new people. It’s also the best way to share who we are and build real connections. There’s never been more accessibility as there is now and it’s such a crazy and neat concept. You can find us on all social media platforms @NoLonelyHearts.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) You mean the world to us! Thank you so much for supporting our music and careers. It truly means the most every time we see your shared support. It is what keeps us going every day, and what keeps us motivated to keep creating. Thank you for taking on this journey alongside us; we are so excited to see where this road takes us. We’re in this together – let’s do this!
