Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I’m currently working on a movie called DVD and CHILL where I’m playing a witch. I love getting to play character that have a bit of an otherworldly edge. I’ve also been writing more and more lately. I just completed two short film scripts I can’t wait to share with the world.

Q) How was Evita on “Cloak & Dagger” originally described to you?

A) Honor student and cheerleader, with a rebellious streak waiting for the right moments to come out. She’s cute without trying too hard. We like her right away!

Q) Was there anything you added to her that wasn’t initially scripted for you?

A) I didn’t know much about Evita at all originally. I didn’t even know she was from New Orleans until receiving the third script. Since she had so much mystery to me, I decided to play on that as one of her character traits.

Q) How would you describe Evita’s relationship with Tyrone?

A) Ty (Aubrey Joseph) and Evita aren’t the typical super hero/damsel in distress boyfriend /girlfriend relationship. Evita isn’t the one that needs saving. I think she recognizes that Ty is in need and does everything she can to aid him. Ty is very closed off and Evita is one of the few that he lets in. She pulls him out of his shell and has proven to be trustworthy. Evita puts his best interest at heart at all times.

Q) Talk about working with Aubrey Joseph.

A) It was always a good time working on set with him. He’s about his business, but he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Perfect balance. Also, we’re both clowns, so we always have a lot of fun together.

Q) How experienced do you think Evita is in voodoo?

A) I think Evita is a novice when it comes to voodoo. I think it’s been around her for her entire life, but she hasn’t had the need or desire to really dive deep into it until now. It’s similar in a way that many people “grew up” in a particular religion but were only in it because they were taught to be. Until one moment, a certain event led them to genuinely connect to it or decide to switch to another belief or practice.

Q) What was your favorite scene to shoot for “Cloak & Dagger?”

A) My favorite scene to shoot was one later in the series that I can’t elaborate on because I’ve been sworn to secrecy. But I will say this: expect the unexpected and the best is yet to come.

Q) What do you think it is about the show that has made it such a fast fan favorite?

A) Everyone can find themselves somewhere on the screen in “Cloak and Dagger.” The show is extremely relatable; we represent many demographics, ethnicities and social standings. We tackle real life issues from anxiety to depression, from police brutality to sexual assault. Our writers are brilliant, they don’t use current social issues just because it’s now cool to be conscious. Nor do they fall into the mundane trap of using typical teen drama to drive the plot. The show is seamlessly woven, and leaves you on edge and wanting more, literally. I hate having to wait a whole week to see the next episode, even though I’ve had the honor of reading the scripts.

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive to the episodes?

A) Yes, social media is such a blessing in certain ways. One of them being that everyone’s voice can be heard. I love being able to get direct feedback from our supporters. It feels amazing that our show is positively impacting so many people.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of the series?

A) Thank you! Your support means the world to us. I hope we continue to bring you authenticity for many seasons to come.
