QFX: Summer Camp
August 17th – 24th, 2020
BASIC INFO:
In this time of physical distancing, we still need to expand our imaginations, spark our creativity and stay connected to our friends. With the current limitations on social gatherings, we decided to curate a program together for those who may be absence of community support that in-person events tend to afford. This virtual camp will be a FULL camp experience – complete with a badge program, camp counselors, movie nights, game events and campfire stories!
WHEN:
Camp will begin on August 14 and run for a full eight days, to end on August 24, 2020. Registration will open on Friday, July 31st, 2020 and a link to Tixr will be provided here and on our socials at that time.
COST:
The cost for QFX: Summer Camp! will be $5.00 USD per person. This fee will cover Zoom costs, prizes and other miscellaneous items needed for the exciting things we have planned for you. If you are unable to afford the $5.00 registration fee, we will have a camp sponsor program that will cover the cost of your registration. The sponsor program will open the same day registration opens, Friday, 7/31/2020. Please check back here at that time.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
BADGE PROGRAM
Our camp directors have put together an amazing program for everyone of all ages, interests and accessibility required to participate in.
Everyone who registers for camp will be given an in-depth breakdown of how the badge program will work, along with any supportive links and guides that may aid in completing. This looks very overwhelming, but it isn’t! Only one task from each group is required to earn a badge and our program allows for anyone, regardless of knowledge or ability, to be able to participate. There will be prizes!
SPEED FRIENDING
Want to meet new campers and make friends? During 90-minute protected/private Zoom room on day one, you will get to hang out with the entire camp! A fun, lighthearted conversational hangout where you can jump into a breakout room if you request it! Counselors will be in the room to ensure the room remains private and no zoom bombs occur.
SATURDAY NIGHT CAMPFIRE
What is summer camp without a campfire, some music and story telling? Enjoy a private zoom meeting with fellow campers as one of our camp directors builds a full-out fire for music and stories to be enjoyed by. You are also free to (SAFELY) build your own to add to the flames!
MOVIE NIGHTS
Enjoy movie night with new friends in a chat room on either Kast or Netflix Party. Our movie selections will be on our schedule for information on times and film choices. We’ll post the links on the schedule for you to come join. If there is something specific you would like to see, feel free to email us and we will see what we can do!
INTERACTIVE GAMING
QFX Summer Camp! will include some interacting gaming such as Xbox gaming parties, ClueFX and perhaps Cards Against Humanity. All who register will be given access to a signup sheet to claim your spot for any of these! Depending on co-op limits, the first signups will be invited to jump into the counselors XBOX Live Party to chat with other campers that are gaming!
RAFFLE
During QFX Cloudcon 2020, Kat Barrell released an exclusive photo that sold out quickly. When you sign up for QFX: Summer Camp, not only will you have access to our fun filled camping experience, but an entry into winning a Kat Barrell autograph. Please note, you get one entry per registration.
HOW IT WORKS:
Register for Summer Camp on Tixr. Registration opens Friday, 7/31 and a link to Tixr will be provided here and on our socials. Once registered, you will be sent a Google form that you will need to fill out. We will use this information to learn a little bit about your interests, hours available during camp, etc. Once the form has been filled out, you will be sorted and assigned a camp counselor. Prior to camp starting, your counselor will reach out to their assigned troop members to set up communication on Twitter to provide your camp schedule and/or answer any preliminary questions you may have before things get rolling!
Please note that we can not promise the participation of any special guests in summer camp at this time, but there is always a possibility. The purpose of this virtual summer camp is to promote connection and community during a time when people need it most.
