Rebecca Bloom – Sigmund and the Sea Monsters
By: Robert Warren
Q) Your most recent role has been on the Amazon Prime television show “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters,” can you tell us a bit about the show and your character Robyn?
A) Robyn is Johnny’s (Solomon Stewart) and Scotty’s (Kyle Breitkopf) cousin and she is smart, ambitious hard-working and loves to read. She has been trying to find her talent and has tried many things, violin, reading the dictionary and tennis. She loves a great adventure so she’s very excited to meet Sigmund and take great care of him. And of course, she’s also the voice of reason and knows Sigmund must stay a secret.
Q) What are some of the adventures you go on “Sigmund And The Sea Monsters?”
A) Well, you’ll have to watch the show and see for yourself, but we got to go to Sigmund’s cave and meet his family! The cave was so cool. We play with Sigmund at the beach and we teach Sigmund about so many things…
Q) What, to you, makes acting special?
A) Acting is special because I love to play different characters. It’s a challenge every time I get a new audition or a new role to come up with something interesting about the character. I feel so lucky that I am able to do a job that love at such a young age.
Q) Tell us what your experiences was like in improv comedy having done improv at LA Comedy Connection, Comedy Playground and Second City.
A) The Comedy Playground, LA Comedy Connection, Groudlings and Second City were amazing experiences. Having to go onto the stage and create a character or react in the moment is so fun, scary and rewarding at the same time. At the Comedy Playground we do a stand-up comedy routine that we write ourselves. This is a great way to build confidence. I recommend anyone just starting to take classes in improv and stand-up comedy.
Q) What was it like discovering your natural sense of comedy after doing the character Marcie on The Peanuts Movie?
A) Discovering my sense of comedy has been really cool. It’s fun to see what else I’m capable of doing. Playing Marcie was such a wonderful experience. She’s so smart!
Q) Having done an iPhone commercial, television, movies, comedy improv, and voice over work what would you say to aspiring actors trying to decide between voice over, improv, movies, commercials and television?
A) I would always tell aspiring actors to follow their dream. Working as an actor in all the different areas of this business is great. It’s hard to choose which one I like better. I say do them all!
Q) What was it like on the set for “Sigmund And The Sea Monsters?”How was it working with the other actors and technicians?
A) Everyone at Sid & Marty Krofft Studios was so great. They all work so hard and take work seriously, but they are kind, fun and feel like family. They all made coming to work each day magical. The other actors are so professional and so talented. I was lucky to work with them.
Q) What was it like getting to appear on season one episode 13 of “Bizaardvark” titled Mom! Stop! on Disney Channel? Describe the experience.
A) Everybody on “Bizaardvark” was so nice to me and welcomed me to set. I had a great time playing Katie on the show. She’s a very intense character.
Q) Do you feel training in karate, acrobatics and dance has been useful to your acting or do you consider it a completely separate thing? Why?
A) When I train in Karate, dance or acrobatics I feel it helps my acting so much. Each one takes discipline and focus. Also, exercise is so important to feeling good, even at twelve years old.
Q) What has been your favorite experience working on “Sigmund And The Sea Monsters?”
A) My favorite experience working on “Sigmund” was being with everyone. It was such a joy to go to work everyday and have fun, but work hard. I can’t wait to do it again.
Q) Working with generationOn for various community service projects, why do you think it is important to give back to the community?
A) Giving back to the community is very important. Sometimes, my mother and I go through our neighborhood and clean the trash on the street. It makes us feel good to help. I’ve done wrapping paper events with generationOn where we give the presents to kids in need. I can’t wait to do more projects with them.
Q) What can viewers be looking forward to on the new show “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters?”
A) Viewers can look forward to watching the beloved classic in a whole new way. It’s a fun and interesting show that will show a different side of sea monsters and the importance of family and friendship. You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
Q) Where can fans follow you on social media?
A) I’m on social media @therebeccabloom.
