Revell Carpenter – Fit to Kill
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) Please tell us the premise for Fit to Kill.
A) My first conversation with the director, David Benullo, he said the funniest thing to me, “Don’t you wish The Devil Wears Prada was a thriller?” [laughs] So, Fit to Kill definitely shares some themes from that movie – being in the fashion world with a difficult boss. But it then turns into a much more violent and tragic story.
Q) How was your character Sadie originally described to you?
A) Sadie was first described as ambitious and artistic, desperate for her life to begin. SUCH a fun jumping off point.
Q) What was it about the film or the role that made you want to be a part of it?
A) I very much connected with being an ambitious young artist – I think most actors would! And having an obstacle like Claudia (Maeve Quinlan) is really a fun world to play in.
Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before working with them on this movie?
A) I knew a bit about Maeve and how much incredible work she had done. I was unbelievably blown away at how down to earth and wonderful she was – I now feel like I’ve known her forever.
Q) What advice did director David Benullo offer while filming that you took to heart?
A) David has so much wisdom to offer. He always encourages actors to be generous with each other – it’s a shared space. But, honestly, my favorite piece of advice from David is really applicable to any working professional. It’s sometimes hard to get a good night’s sleep when you’re working long hours in a very active job. He says that when you can’t sleep, consider your body in “low power mode.” It really helped me feel less anxious about not being able to fall asleep even when I have an early call time, which actually then gets me to fall asleep. [laughs]
Q) This is such an intense film. What were some of your most difficult or memorable scenes to film?
A) Oh, absolutely the scene at the Fabulique offices when Claudia finds a tabloid picture of her ex-husband and new girlfriend and explodes at me for it. Maeve is so fantastic, all I had to do was be present in that room and my work was done.
Q) How did you shake off a long day of working on this thriller?
A) Chocolate milk and “Schitt’s Creek.” Works like a charm.
Q) What do you think it is about Fit to Kill that will make it a fast fan favorite Lifetime film?
A) I think it’s very fast paced and has really great, well developed characters. You can’t look away for a second!
Q) With the movie coming out, how did you celebrate the release?
A) I was actually shooting in Atlanta on location for an overnight shoot when it premiered on Lifetime, BUT I plan to watch with my boyfriend the next week when he comes to visit set. [smiles]
Q) What are the other recent projects that you have been busy working on?
A) I also have a guest spot on a super fun show, “All American: Homecoming.” I play a bit of a mean girl. Ha! And I am currently shooting another film with a great cast and crew I’m excited to share. [smiles]
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?
A) Thank you SO, SO much for watching!! We all do it to entertain you – it means so much! And DM me anytime, I really try to answer all the questions and comments ❤️
