Interviews
Rozette – Roze Coloured Glasses
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) Please tell us the story behind your new song “Salt in the Water.”
A) I wanted to talk about how challenging the past few years have been, relationship-wise, for everybody. Distance, separation and division have put walls up between friends and family. It’s been really hard to watch – and experience.
This Brené Brown quote resonated with me and I brought it into the session: “People are hard to hate close up. Move in.”
The reality is, we all want the same thing: to love and be loved. To feel safe. To see and be seen. Underneath all of the opinions, and the often-divisive issues in our society, we are more the same than different. AND: We are all doing our very best. ❤
Q) You are a part of social media. What kind of fan response have you been receiving to the single?
A) The feedback on “Salt in The Water” has been delightful, frankly. [laughs] I’ve had beautiful compliments on my vocal as well as the emotions that the song is stirring up for people.
Q) How will the video for “Salt in the Water” convey the message behind it?
A) The video will actually be a live-of-the-floor take of the song with two back vocalists and a beautiful piano player.
Q) This song is off your forthcoming EP Roze Coloured Glasses. What are some themes you’ll be exploring on it?
A) Everything from the-one-that-got-away to humans lifting each other up when our hearts are heavy.
Q) The EP returns you to your piano-laden roots. What made you want to sit back down and focus again on piano filled songs?
A) Because I’m back on stage! YAY! I really love being able to bring my songs to life without tracks. I play solo a lot. Piano/vocals shows are my fav!
Q) Are you able to tease some of the names of your favorite singles that are featured on the EP?
A) “OK Alright,” “Watch You Love Her”
Q) What do you hope listeners will take away from exploring Roze Coloured Glasses?
A) I hope people feel called to let down their guard and give injured relationships another chance – another look. I hope people can dig back through their fondest memories of each other – be willing to look through each other’s lens’. We’ve all had such different experiences on our journey.
Q) Will there be a forthcoming tour to accompany your new music?
A) Maybe mid or late 2023. I’m working really hard on my socials at the moment!
Q) What are some of your personal favorite songs to perform live?
A) My song “Now” and lotsa Lady Gaga songs!
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Thank yooooooooou for tuning in. [winks]
