Ryan Hansen – The Perfect Son
Q. We only got to see a small glimpse of your character last season. Will viewers get to know more of him this season?
A. I think that with Rob and the rest of the writing team I think that you are going to see a lot more of “Dick.” I think that they are going to save some cool stuff for him, so yeah, I think you’re going to see a lot more.
Q. What information were you originally given about the character of “Dick Casablancas”?
A. I was given not too much information, they really don’t let out too much. They just let me know that they have some amazing stuff for me and that I’ll be having a love interest and all that stuff.
Q. What made you want to be a part of the show “Veronica Mars”?
A. I wanted to be a part of it because it’s such a well written show, it’s so witty, there’s some dark stuff with it. The way it’s shot is so well done, the style of it, it’s just a brilliant show. It’s so different than what is out on TV, I think it brings such a right asset to TV, just a different style show. It’s sort of a TV detective style but it’s pretty cool, that made me want to do it.
Q. The other day you all had a mall signing, what was that experience like for you?
A. Yes, it was UCSC and it was for the college and that was my first experience doing anything like that. It was really fun, it was just pretty surreal because I’ve never been on a series regular. So, I never had to do anything like this but it was very fun and it was really surreal being with all of the cast. Just trying to have people wanting me to sign their DVD box, it was very fun. It was very cool being a part of the show that way.
Q. Do you have a most memorable moment from filming “Veronica Mars”?
A. Honestly, I don’t want to be cheesy but it’s all been so memorable, being on set with everyone. I don’t have anything that really sticks out.
Q. Your character is the step son to Charisma Carpenter’s character. How has it been working with this talented actress?
A. It has been so cool working with her because she’s pretty experienced and she’s been on a couple of shows. It’s been really cool to have scenes with her, I’ve learned a lot from her. She’s very sweet, very nice, she seems to be very comfortable, even when she’s in a bikini. She’s been very fun and very easy, she’s cool, I’ve learned a lot from her. She’s definitely experienced and so that’s been really a good experience for me.
Q. You and Kyle have some great brotherly chemistry on screen. How are things off for the two of you?
A. Kyle’s really like he’s my brother, we met on the show and instantly we just clicked. We are like best friends, we are always doing something. There is a front office and we sit there at the secretary desk and he’s Deloris and I’m Linda. We sit there and just play off each other for so long, just do different things when we’re not filming. So, we’re always getting into trouble or we hang around, we hang out off the set too. We go skating all the time and he’s a really good skateboarder, it’s real weird how much chemistry we really do have off of the set too. It‘s really fun and unique, so that makes working so much easier too.
Q. What are your passions besides acting?
A. Yeah, totally. I’m passionate for my wife of course, I’m passionate for Africa. I am involved a lot with Africa with a program called Invisible Children. I was there for a few months a little bit ago, I love surfing, I love live theater, I love being outside, all that stuff. I love my family, they mean more than anything to me.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. My spare time is kind of like what I’m passionate for. I go to the beach all the time, I go running at the beach, I go skating, skateboarding, surfing, snorkeling. My wife and I dance a lot, a lot of dancing going on, stuff like that. In my spare time we do a lot of stuff for Invisible Children like I said.
Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. I would like to say thank you so much for watching the show, because it is such a good show. Thanks for letting Dick be Dick and letting him have his fun on the show. I am having a blast doing it, it’s ridiculous that I get to do it, it’s my job and it’s just so fun. Thanks for the support!
