Interviews
Sadie Robertson – God’s Not Dead 2
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) I am working on a lot of things, but pretty much all of them haven’t been announced. So, we’ve been working behind the scenes so you can look forward to seeing that probably all over my social media in a week.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the film God’s Not Dead 2?
A) The first movie I saw because my parents were in it. I thought it was really cool that my parents were in the movie and it was a Christian movie that really motivated me in my life. Being touched by the film so much, I wanted to be a part of the second movie. The character I play, Marlene, was a lot like me. It was just like a perfect fit.
Q) Was there anything you added to your role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?
A) Not really. I pretty much stayed true to the character. Marlene was so much of who I am in real life that it literally wasn’t me acting. Marlene and I are just one and the same.
Q) What was it like working with your costars Melissa Joan Hart and Jesse Metcalfe?
A) It was so cool because I grew up watching them on TV. I loved their TV shows! I was so excited that I saw Melissa and the fact we were both valedictorian was a cool thing to bond over. And Jesse is just a cutie! I was very excited when I saw him. I played it cool and didn’t even ask for a picture. So, I was super proud of myself. He was really cool!
Q) What was your most memorable moment from filming?
A) One of the most memorable moments was one day when we were all sitting outside and we had been filming all day. It was really hot and we were all getting sunburnt. There was a Christian band that were there to film and one of the girls just started singing “Amazing Grace.” Then, another person started singing it and another and another…We all just ended up singing it. The cast and the crew were singing and people were crying. It was a really touching moment where it wasn’t just acting or just for the movie. It was behind the scenes praising the Lord and I just thought it was a really great moment.
Q) Is acting something you are looking to get into more?
A) Yeah, I never thought I would be in this. I never thought I would start acting, but I just finished a movie and I’m about to start filming another movie. So, I guess I am getting into acting and I enjoy it. I really like it!
Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the instant fan feedback you will be receiving when people see the film?
A) Definitely, I’m excited to see what people think of the movie and how their lives are changed by it because the faith in this movie tugs at your heart. I think it is actually going to change a lot of lives and lifestyles. It is one of those movies you take away a lot from.
Q) With that in mind, what do you hope viewers take away from watching God’s Not Dead 2?
A) I have had people watch this movie that have said that it really challenged them in a lot of ways because it is not just a movie. It is truly a message and a motivational push in your everyday life. Even if you are not a Christian, I think that it appeals to you too and I think it is so important people see it because it is real life things going on. There are several cases like this in life today and I think it is good to be educated in that. For me, I was educated on a lot of things that I never even knew.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) I would, first of all, say thank you for following me because I know it has been crazy the past few years. But I would say that this is so important to me that everyone goes and sees it because it is not about me – it’s totally about my fans. It’s about me wanting them to be motivated, pushed and encouraged. I really want everyone to get to go see it!
