Q) Please tell us where we pick up in the National Treasure universe with “Edge of History.”

A) While “Edge of History” is derivative of the original National Treasure films, it truly stands on its own. Our show introduces Jess Valenzuela (Lisette Olivera) and a new treasure hunting quest in present day Baton Rouge.

Q) How was your character Meena originally described to you?

A) The initial breakdown I was emailed said, “Meena is a sophisticated South-Asian American woman. Medical student at LSU and Ethan’s love interest.”

Q) Was there anything you added to her that wasn’t in her initial breakdown?

A) When I got to Baton Rouge, Mira Nair and I discussed this character a lot. Meena is incredibly sure of herself and of what she wants. She really is a sweetheart. To get the opportunity to portray such an intelligent and strong woman alongside this incredible cast is an honor.

Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before working with them?

A) I knew of Jordan Rodrigues because I was a huge fan of “Dance Academy” and I also knew Antonio Cipriano from the theater scene in NYC. They’re both absolutely fantastic on screen and off.

Q) Ethan seems to be keeping Meena at a distance from Jess. Is he worried that Jess may be jealous?

A) I don’t know if Ethan (Jordan Rodrigues) is consciously worried that Jess will be jealous. But he is conflicted. He most definitely cares for Meena, but he and Jess have such a deep and complicated bond. There’s history there so naturally, it’s a tough and complex situation for all involved.

Q) What were some of your favorite scenes or episode to film?

A) My favorite scene hasn’t come out yet so I can’t spoil it! But I can say that it’s a very sweet scene in episode 6 between Meena and Ethan.

Q) What does it mean to you to be a part of a series that is connected to such iconic films?

A) I was and still am a huge fan of the iconic films. Those movies were such a huge part of my childhood. So, this whole experience has been very surreal. I don’t think I’ve fully grasped the idea that I’m now a part of the National Treasure legacy, but I sure am grateful.

Q) What do you think it is about “National Treasure: Edge of History” that will make it such a fast fan favorite series?

A) “National Treasure: Edge of History” will be a fast fan favorite because it has a more modern and diverse take while still maintaining what we all loved about the original films. It’s fun, heartfelt and unpredictable.

Q) What are the other projects that you have been busy working on?

A) I’m heading to Vancouver as we speak to begin filming a movie. It’s completely different from anything I’ve ever done before and I’m extremely excited. I can’t wait until I’m able to share more.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?

A) I would like to say thank you and that I am extremely grateful for everyone that has been on this journey with me. It really does mean a lot. It’s been an honor to grow, change and learn with such amazing people by my side.
