Q) What are the recent projects that you have been working on?

A) I played the lead role as well as associate produced a feature film called Kiss & Cry that is now available worldwide on Netflix. More recently, I was in a TV movie called Stickman that is available on the Sci-Fi Network. I am leaving in a week to Ottawa to film a feature that I am very excited about!

Q) Please tell us the premise for the movie #ROXY.

A) #ROXY is a modern-day love story based off of the classic play, Cyrano De Bergerac. Cyrus (Jake Short) and Roxy have been best friends since they were little. What Roxy doesn’t know is that Cyrus has grown much stronger feelings for her over the years, but when Christian Newville, the new school hottie enters the picture, the two decide to join forces to help Christian (Booboo Stewart) win over Roxy’s heart. Christian uses Cyrus’ words to woo her and Cyrus uses Christian’s good looks as a mask to confess his love for her. Will Roxy find out and who will she choose if she does?

Q) What made you want to be a part of the film?

A) I had SO much fun auditioning for this! You discover new sides of yourself when you take on a character. I really connected to her and to the script.

Q) How familiar were you with the classic tale of Cyrano de Bergerac before joining the movie?

A) Before joining the movie, I’m not going to lie, I was not very familiar with the play. But once I heard I had booked the film, the first thing I did was watch Steve Martin’s Roxanne with my parents and loved it!

Q) How was your character originally described to you?

A) Roxy has this infectious glow about her. She loves literature and is without a doubt a hopeless romantic!

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t in the initial breakdown?

A) My energy, my insecurities and my quirks are all some of the things that I brought to the character.

Q) Were you familiar with any of your co-stars before working with them on #ROXY?

A) I looked my co-stars up when I auditioned for the role and when I found out I booked it I was so excited to be working with them!

Q) What advice did director Michael Kennedy offer you during filming that you took to heart?

A) Michael Kennedy was so much fun to work with! I think one of the biggest things was her connection to Cyrus, but while we were filming, we felt as though there would be some fans rooting for Roxy and Christian and some fans rooting for Roxy and Cyrus! So, I think the chemistry between me and both Jake and Booboo was something we paid a lot of attention to.

Q) What were some of your favorite moments from filming or behind the scenes?

A) Jake and I had this very emotional scene. Roxy was upset over Christian and it’s the first time you see a spark between Roxy and Cyrus. During the scene, we heard the loudest noise and we were trying to hold it together. We realized our director was starving and his stomach wouldn’t stop growling and burst out laughing! Moments like these are always my favorite!

Q) What do you hope viewers take away from watching the movie?

A) We live in a very visual world. Through social media, we have a tendency to judge someone’s character by the last picture they posted. I hope what viewers take away from this film is that your value doesn’t come from the amount of comments, followers or likes you have, it comes from within yourself. I think in our world today, that is such an important message to understand.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you excited to see the instant fan feedback you’ll receive to it?

A) Yes!! I am so excited to see what people think of the movie!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the work that you do?

A) I cannot believe how lucky I am to have so much love and support. It makes such an incredible difference to know you have such wonderful people on your side who are rooting for you and who are excited to see your work, there is nothing like it. I LOVE YOU ALL!
