Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Pop/Inspirational

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my current music influences are Raye, NF, JP Saxe, Sasha Sloan, etc.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Jealousy.”

A) “Jealousy” was written about the younger version of myself. I grew up very innocent, confident and free. As I got older and started experiencing the real world – rejection, heartbreak, etc., insecurities and fears would creep in. Somedays I get jealous of that little girl without a care in the world that I used to be.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think most everyone can relate to that inner child in each of us. We all at one point saw the world differently than we do now. It’s not a bad thing but I’m sure many of us miss the blissful and innocent qualities of our youth sometimes.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) My video team did an incredible job creating the scene of my childhood bedroom (lilac walls, leopard bedspread, teddy bears and 90’s posters on the wall). I played the role of myself but also rewatched footage of my actual childhood as I sang the song and got quite emotional during the filming.

Q) I love your recent wedding song. Are there plans to expand it into a full track?

A) Yes, I just released “Wanna Be Here” on all music platforms. It has been fun to see the response of this futuristic/romantic love song.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My process is different every time. There is no set formula. Most days I start with a track or some kind of musical vibe to set the tone and then match lyrics or melodies to the feeling of the music. I have tons of titles and random lyrics written on my phone that I pull from.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I have a couple producers I worked with on the album I’m rolling out this year, but I have started doing my own production since then. I am loving the process of making the music myself. It’s been a big year of learning, but the more I do it, the easier it gets. I have quite a few videos on my Instagram and TikTok @sarahreevesmusic of recent production work.

Q) You were in the states for SXSW. What did playing this festival mean to you?

A) It’s been so fun being at SXSW. It’s such an inspirational time for so many and it’s an honor to be a part of it and play my music.

Q) With a number of recent singles out at the moment, which tracks were you looking forward to performing live at SXSW?

A) My song “Best Days” is always a favorite that I do live and seems to connect with the fans in a deep way.

Q) Were there certain bands you were looking forward to seeing perform while at the festival as well?

A) I’ve seen a few great performances and am sad to miss my label mates Steven Malcolm and Jay Way as they are performing right after I leave!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I’ve always wanted to work with Jon Bellion and write with Julia Michaels. I would be so fun to collaborate with them.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I have been a fan of Raye for years and am currently listening to her newest project on repeat. I love her vulnerability, her voice and the production is never copy/paste, but always captures new scenes and takes the listener on a journey which I love.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Yes, I’m thankful for social media although sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. I’ve learned to embrace it. It has become a great way to personally connect with fans and let them into my world a little more than just the music.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you to every listener both new and old that has supported my music. I think of you every time I write a song with the hope that it helps and inspires you in the midst of all this crazy world throws at us. I value you and appreciate the love.
