Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is Pop mixed with rhythmic and R&B flares. I really love incorporating real live drums with a programmed synth.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I absolutely love Jon Bellion. His beats are so fresh and different. And his lyrics are really catchy.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Coins.”

A) “Coins” is all about being yourself and never changing who you are. This industry can be really crazy and you constantly have people giving their opinions. I never want to change who I am and this song is my response to all those people.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I’ve heard many of my supporters tell me it’s their anthem which makes me SO happy. That’s exactly what I wanted. I wanted to write something that stood for individuality and being 100% who you are. That means loving your flaws, too.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) Right now we just have a lyric video, but I absolutely love New York City so I wanted the lyrics to show up on buildings, streets, cars, bridges, etc. The feeling of New York is so strong. I felt like this song fit perfectly with NYC.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It’s different every time! Sometimes I walk into a session knowing exactly what I want to write about. Other times I’ll have a title that I love. And some days I’m totally inspired by a sound or drum loop the producer has and we just run with the inspiration. That’s my favorite part about writing.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I definitely have control over what it sounds like, but since I’m not a producer. I let my producers run wild and do whatever they feel. There are times where I want to hear a specific sound somewhere. I have one producer who knows my music language. I’ll tell him I want it to sound more “fluffy” or “magical-y” and he’ll know exactly what I’m saying. [laughs]

Q) What can fans expect from a live Savannah Outen performance?

A) It’s SO much fun!! I have the best time performing our set. My band is so talented. They’re some of the most fun/cool people I’ve ever met! We have great chemistry and it shows on stage. I just want people to come to the show and have a fun time!

Q) Can we expect an EP or album in the near future?

A) I will be releasing a new single soon and then an EP in the future! I’m really excited about all the new music I have. I cannot wait to share it with everyone!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love performing at colleges. They just want to have a good time and listen to music. They also care about the lyrics. I really enjoy singing at colleges. I also love performing at amusement parks and fairs. It’s so fun singing outdoors and it reminds me of all the shows I went to when I was younger.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I’d love to write a funky/soul song with John Mayer. He has a way with making the simplest phrase sound perfect.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to Dua Lipa and Mansionz. They’re fun records but still have really awesome lyrics. I also love the song “Blessed” by Daniel Caesar. It’s super nostalgic.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s the best and fastest way to connect with my fans. If I want to ask them what cover I should sing, I immediately get feedback. It’s such a great way to keep in touch with them!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) THANK YOU. Thank you for giving me the chance to do what I love. And if you don’t know who I am, I hope you’ll check out my music. [smile]
