Happy Birthday, Kieran

It’s Kieran’s (Amadeus Serafini) birthday and to celebrate he is planning a romantic night with Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), but it seems as if Eli (Sean Grandillo) has a different idea. When he runs into Emma at the coffee shop, he suggests doing something a little more fun for his cousin’s birthday. According to Eli, Kieran would want a big party, but he would never ask Emma for one. And so plans for a big party at Emma’s house are made and Eli comes to the rescue with a fake ID to score them some booze.

Eli meets Emma at her house to set up for the party and a possible rift forms in her relationship with Kieran. As Eli and Emma are hanging a banner, Eli almost falls and grabs Emma to keep his balance. But there is a brief moment before Brooke (Carlson Young) comes in where it appears as if he wants to kiss Emma. When Emma tells Brooke about what happened, she doesn’t say that she didn’t want him to kiss her. Is Eli wedging himself between Emma and Kieran?

Audrey Grows Suspicious

Last episode Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) found the bloody corkscrew used to kill Eddie Krueger in her car. This episode, she buries it only for it to turn up in her bed again. The killer is once again taunting her and letting her know that he has the upper hand and this puts Audrey on a mission to discover who is behind the text messages and calls.

During study hall, and after receiving a text from the killer saying that he/she has his/her eye on Audrey, she looks up and sees Gustavo (Santiago Segura), the ever creepy and mysterious sheriff’s son, staring directly at her. Being the cunning person that she is, she sneaks out of the room to “use the bathroom” and pulls the fire alarm. Once everyone has evacuated, she sneaks back in to snoop in Gustavo’s bag. She finds his iPad that is full of drawings of the Lakewood Six, including a drawing of Emma covered in blood with a knife through her head.

Where’s Jake?

Where’s Jake (Tom Maden) is becoming the new Where’s Waldo. Nobody seems to know where he is, aside from Audrey who had the misfortune of discovering his body in a storage locker. Brooke is continuing to receive on and off texts from him, but nobody has actually seen him. This prompts Brooke’s father to go to the police station, asking Officer Acosta (Anthony Ruivivar) to find Jake, although he doesn’t really give the sheriff any choice in the matter.

Officer Acosta goes to the school where he is told that Jake has been absent the last few days, out sick with strep throat. The woman at the desk assures him that she’s spoken with Jake and that he sounds really sick. When the sheriff goes to Jake’s house, where he is supposed to be home resting, there is no answer and Officer Acosta’s suspicions regarding Jake Fitzgerald’s whereabouts grow.

Last Night Was Really Weird

It’s time for the party and everyone has gathered at Emma’s house, everyone but Jake, who was kind of enough to send an expensive bottle of tequila to the party (who really sent that tequila?). When Kieran arrives, he is more than surprised! His romantic night with Emma is a thing of the past, instead replaced by a party full of drunken teenagers not to mention that the tequila has been dosed with a medicinal spiritual herb known as Ayahuasca. Gustavo explains this is a medicinal herb that causes hallucinations (really, dude, you’re just making yourself look even more suspicious) and seems to brings out whatever is hiding inside of you.

A night that was supposed to be a fun celebration turns into a night of horror. Brooke begins to hallucinate water that is one fire, which later morphs into her hallucinating Jake. Audrey hallucinates Rachel (Sosie Bacon), her girlfriend who was murdered by the killer in season one. She apologizes to her before kissing her, but it turns out that she’s actually kissing Noah (John Karna). Zoe (Kiana Ledé), who we’d think would be furious that her date is kissing another girl, turns out to think that their energy is glowing and encourages them to kiss again. A kiss shared between Audrey and Noah turns into a kiss shared by Audrey, Noah and Zoe.

Emma’s hallucinations are a bit harsher. She sees a little girl who tells her to follow and Emma does as she is asked, following the girl outside and into the woods. Pictures are hanging from the trees and she hears voices and pigs. And then the killed appears. Emma closes her eyes, reminding herself that this is all an effect of the dosed tequila and when she reopens her eyes the killer is gone…for a moment before he jumps back out and slashes his knife at her. Emma runs and runs straight into her father, who brings her back to the house and calls the police.

Officer Acosta is the first to arrive and while Emma remains adamant that she was attacked in the woods, he remains skeptical. They were all hallucinating, and even Brooke tells Emma that the dosed tequila is likely what caused her to see the killer. Audrey; however, backs Emma and even places guilt on Gustavo. This causes Officer Acosta to do some snooping of his own and while he initially doesn’t find anything suspicious in his son’s drawings, a huge flashing red light blares when he opens a box to discover Brandon James’s mask.

Brandon James: Part II

By now, we all know that there is a killer copycat on the loose, but the only one who is truly aware of this is Audrey. Things change quickly when the Lady of the Lake finalists are announced, both Zoe and Brooke among them. As a banner is lowered, which is conveniently located directly above Brooke on the stage, a waterfall of blood falls onto her in a scene that is very reminiscent of Carrie and Jake’s body falls to the stage. Brandon James: Part II has just hit Lakewood.

Final Thoughts

The cat’s out of the bag now. Everyone knows that there is another killer lurking in Lakewood and he or she seems to have their eyes set on the remaining members of the Lakewood Six. Jake is already gone and it’s probably safe to say that Emma being attacked in the woods wasn’t just a hallucination. Gustavo is looking awfully suspicious right now; the evidence keeps gathering against him. Not only does he have a strange obsession with the Lakewood Six, he also draws them, including an extremely creepy drawing of Emma covered in blood and he has the mask that the killer wears. But this all seems to make it a little too obvious for him to really be the killer. There is also Eli, who seems to have some ulterior motive. Maybe he’s just trying to get with Emma or maybe he is somehow connected to the murders.
