We’re just one more episode away from bidding farewell to the character of Fiona (Emmy Rossum) forever. But this week’s episode is giving a chance for Fiona to redeem herself and get back on her feet despite the horrendous few months she’s had. The episode starts off with a drunk, hungover, lazy Frank (William H. Macy) running out of Fiona’s old apartment building as the demolishing team starts to take it down. Unluckily for him, he falls and gets severely injured, even though he pays it no mind at the moment.

A sober, calm Fiona wakes up to find Debbie (Emma Kenney) heading off to work while Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) hides out in the bathroom trying to avoid her after the whole Kelly (Jess Gabor) debacle. Meanwhile, Kev (Steve Howey) is ready to resume sexual activities and is counting down the seconds before he’s officially allowed to have it again. However, he comes within eight seconds leaving V (Shanola Hampton) lying there in disbelief.

Back at the Gallagher house Lip (Jeremy Allen White) finds Fiona in the kitchen making coffee and not drinking any alcohol. He reassures her that this process sucks and makes plans to attend a meeting with her later. During the hustle bustle of the morning Fiona takes note that no one has seen Liam (Christian Isaiah) and that Carl has burn marks across his face. Mother Fiona is making a comeback and it’s certainly showing.

On his way out to work Carl sees Frank lying in front of the house with a bone sticking out of his leg. Just then, Kelly arrives to pick up Debbie, only to realize that Frank is more injured than he realizes. However, he refuses to let them call 911. Meanwhile, Lip is being grilled by Tami’s dad who wants to let him know that Tami (Kate Miner) is not having the baby, although she told Lip she is going to keep it.

It turns out that Frank didn’t want anyone to call 911 because he had molly and acid on him and would have gotten in trouble if they found it. Giving him only five minutes to get his crap together, Fiona says she will call for some help right after. The Gallagher house is an uproar and it only continues when Carl learns that he was rejected from West Point. It doesn’t help that Kelly and Debbie head out to spend the day together while Frank is taken away by the paramedics who seem to know all about him and his shenanigans. Still looking for Liam, Fiona reluctantly goes with Frank to the hospital while she asks Debbie to look for their missing brother.

Kev is heartbroken over his eight seconds, but V assures him that he needs to give it time. He can’t seem to get over it and continues to talk about it in front of his twin girls. He doesn’t get much time to mope over the situation as later on in the day both Kev and V are called into the school because the nuns have figured out that both of their girls have been attending the school. In order to make up for the tuition they didn’t pay the nuns give them two options–either they pay the money they owe or Kev has to do them a favor in the form of dressing up as Jesus and carrying a heavy cross to a specified location. Considering $1,500 is a hefty balance, Kev agrees to their Jesus terms.

Lip finds out that Tami has a doctor’s appointment after Brad (Scott Michael Campbell) tells him to be mindful of Tami’s lurking dad. Later on, Lip waits for Tami to come out of her apartment and accompanies her to the appointment. However, the appointment was with an oncologist and not an OB-GYN as Lip assumed. Since Tami’s mother had breast cancer Tami wanted to see if she had the BRCA gene. There were two ways it could go in which a pregnancy could help or be the recipe for disaster.

At the hospital Frank waits to get seen while he demands that the doctors give him some sort of pain medication. Given his history the hospital refuses to cater to him and an administrative official manipulates paperwork to get him Medicare coverage since he never pays his bills. No one wants to operate on Frank under the assumption that they won’t get paid so they bring in a resident doing his first week in Orthopedics to do the surgery. While waiting for Frank’s doctor, Fiona tries to call Liam again who isn’t picking up his phone. Not to worry though, he is simply ignoring his family who took two days to notice that he was missing. Instead, he’s hanging out with his friend playing video games and being taken care of by his friend’s grandmother.

Fiona meets with a defense lawyer regarding her assault case. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against her considering how everything went down, but there’s a possibility to use the “Liam is black” angle to make things work in their favor. However, Fiona needs a job, which she finds as a gas station attendant.

After their day out, Kelly and Debbie return back to the Gallagher house with still no Liam in sight. Debbie’s mind is elsewhere as she falls asleep next to Kelly and wakes up to kiss her. At first Kelly reciprocates, but is startled when she realizes she is kissing Debbie. Their close-knit friendship takes an awkward turn as Kelly runs out of the house, promising to call Debbie later and shrugs off the entire incident. Carl’s day goes from bad to horrendous when a man comes into his work trying to rob the joint, but unluckily for the man Carl is furious from his bad day and beats the crap out of him. Later on at home Carl sits defeated and heartbroken over Kelly, the robbery and being rejected. Debbie finds him moping outside and the two end up patching things up over their mutual heartbreak.

Since she couldn’t make it to the morning meeting Fiona goes to an AA meeting later in the day and gets up to introduce herself to everyone. She’s not sure if she’s an alcoholic, but based on her family history she thinks it’s probably where she needs to be. Speaking of family, Frank’s surgery goes well and despite needing a longer recovery time the hospital administration and surgeons insist on him being sent home. They simply didn’t want to deal with him, especially not since he costs them thousands of dollars.

Fiona and Lip have a heart-to-heart back at home and although he won’t talk about Xan he helps Fiona realize what she has to do. Life is going to be hard and difficult but she has to keep trying and pick herself up from all the bad things that have happened. Overwhelmed with emotions, Fiona knows she has to keep going and heads off to work. Fiona’s thrown for a loop when Max (Neal Bledsoe) shows up at the gas station and is surprised to see her. But he comes bearing news, she still has a part in the nursing home and he wants to buy her out for $100,000!

No one knows where Liam is still and he’s completely content with it staying that way.
