Q) What are the recent projects you have been working on?

A) I’m working on a new show called “The Daily Chil,” which can now be seen on Amazon Prime. I’m the host and it’s what I would call my Edutainment TV Show. It’s a mix of education and entertainment, just like the shows used to be when I was a kid. I loved “PeeWee’s Playhouse” and “Reading Rainbow” and shows like that. I wanted to somehow bring that back, but with an adult feel to educate people about a mostly unknown and forgotten subject – Health, Wellness, Healing and Cannabis.

 

Q) What drew you to wanting to begin a skincare line?

A) Being raised as a fruitarian, martial artist and embracing the holistic lifestyle from birth, I always had a special place in my heart for making homemade products. My father was a self-proclaimed Herbologist. My Grandfather was a well-known Chemist and taught at Texas A and M University for over thirty years. In our house we made our own products because we knew the hidden truth about most consumer products that most people still don’t know. When I met Keren [Meyer] we began talking about how we could make a difference and that’s when the wheels began to turn.  We wanted to make products to help reduce inflammation of the body while looking good doing it. Our skin is our first response to our environment and the effects of stress. We knew that we had to start with the largest organ, your skin. Viola! Chilyo was born.

 

Q) What is it about the holistic approach that is beneficial better skin?

A) Research now shows that our environment affects us not only physically but mentally. These are all forms of stress that can lead to depression, cancer, pain and inflammation. I wanted to create products that could not only keep you hydrated and looking good, but also feeling good so you could unite the mind and body to live your best life.

 

Q) What are the specific benefits to the product that really stand out to you?

A) Well, currently we have four products. I look at them like the magical tools for our four seasons.

 

Our Eye and Lobe Serum

3. I love this muscle Balm. When I workout sometimes I get sore and it does the trick every time.

 

Our activating Muscle Balm was created to work completely differently from any other over the counter muscle rub. We set out to develop something that blends Western science with the effects of Far East treatments like “acupuncture” or “cupping,” but in a crème form. This is really where East meets West in our approach to product development.

 

The ingredients in our muscle rub cream bring the blood to the surface of the skin via vasodilators that create redness and provide a warming sensation. Because our skin is like a sponge, once the redness goes down, the ingredients in our balm are able to be absorbed in to the skin for long-term relief.

 

4. Our Face and Neck Crème is something that I use every day and at night. It was designed specifically to fight and conquer skin inflammation with its unique environmental response formulation. Q) What are some of your favorite ingredients of Chilyo products?

A) There are so many that we put into all of our products from around the world to make the best product we could. Full spectrum Hemp CBD is an amazing ingredient that is a super plant. Arnica, bromelain, collagen, fruit stem cells, MSM, Elastin, Vitamin B3, peptides, bio fermentation, pear, orange…I could go on and on.

 

Q) These products are cruelty-free. Why was that such an important aspect to these items?

A) It’s really interesting when you enter a new field and really see up close the choices that companies can make, good or bad. Once we finished our formulations for our products, they had to be tested to ensure their safety for the public. We were given an option to test on animals or, for a much higher price, test on plants. All I can say is we made the right choice. Testing on plants was the right thing to do. How could you not?

 

Q) How does Chilyo mix ancient healing techniques with modern scientific integrity?

A) We used ancient herbs and ingredients found naturally on Earth. We looked at the older remedies that were in books, the old tales of what my grandma used to say and took all of the old ways into a lab and modernized the same traditions into what we call CHILYO. We came up with a complex that is the best in the world for anti-aging, healing and overall health.

 

Q) CBD is a hot topic these days. In what ways does it play a role in the anti-aging process?

A) You see that’s the thing. It’s not just CBD. We use Full Spectrum hemp CBD. Most people think of CBD oil. CBD oil and full spectrum hemp CBD are two completely different things. It really comes down to how its extracted. CBD oil is a chemical process to isolate the “cannabidiol,” but it removes all the oils, vitamins, minerals, plant material, etc. while Full Spectrum Hemp CBD is the opposite. We extract the whole plant and leave in all of the nutrients that make the plant a true super food. It contains Vitamin B complex, Calcium, Phosphorus, Iron, Protein, Omega 3 and 6 and many more that truly make it amazing for every system of our bodies. I always say it’s like white bread vs 65 grain bread. I’m eating the 65 grain.
