Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as indie pop.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I have been influenced by Halsey, Charlotte Lawrence, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Khalid and Blackbear.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “We’re Here.”

The idea for “We’re Here” came from watching the coverage of all of the recent shootings and wanting to give a voice to stand up and unite to tell the current administration that we’re here and we want a change made to gun laws to protect innocent people. The first lyrics “We don’t want to be the hunted we’re so tired of being scared” are because we are now all so aware of the possibilities of shootings in our everyday worlds. Even this weekend there were several shootings. This is a serious issue that effects us all.

The current administration is doing many things that negatively impact the world my generation will inherit – alienating our allies, removing critical environmental protections, escalating discord. “We’re Here” is a voice for our generation to speak out to create a more positive future.

Q) Why was it so important for you to write a song to raise awareness about gun violence?

A) I think we all should all use whatever resources we have to make the world safer, where people are treated equally. I think it is time for our country to unite over issues that effect us all. I am very passionate about seeing a change to gun laws to protect innocent victims of gun violence, especially school children.

The recent mass shootings at schools such as Santa Fe High School and Parkland deeply troubled me and all of my friends. It is difficult to feel safe when there is violence all around you. The most recent shooting in Maryland marked the 154th mass shooting in 2018. The U.S. has had nearly as many mass shootings as days in 2018. The number of U.S. students killed in school shootings so far this year is greater than the number of U.S. military personnel who have been killed in combat operations. Nearly 1,300 children in the United States die from gun-related injuries every year. There is something really wrong with a country that will not put laws in place to protect its children.

Q) What do you hope it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Musicians have incredible power to uplift people. I think we all have a responsibility to give voice to important issues to make the world a better place. My hope is that the song helps to unite people inspire them to come together to help stop the gun violence.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

We used actual footage of recent shootings and the aftermath to convey the seriousness of the issue. Innocent people are dying and being injured including so many children. We need to come together to do something to stop all of this senseless violence.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I usually come up with an idea for a song first – a message I want to convey. Then, I work on the lyrics while I am creating the melody on the guitar.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am involved in all aspects of the production of my music. The producers take my rough tracks and improve them.

Q) What can fans expect from a live SHEERA performance?

A) We are working on a collaborative

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) Yes, I am working on several new songs and will release a full EP in November.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I like to perform on camera the best because I am shy in front of a live audience. (Alena please help with this)

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Khalid

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Charlotte Lawrence – You’re the One That I Want, Gnash – Imagine If and Khalid – Location

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) My fans have been so supportive on social media. They are so positive, and they give me great support and energy to keep writing and supporting social causes that help others.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I am so thankful to my fans. They show me that kindness is still alive and well in this world. The love they give me helps me to create new music that I hope will in turn lift people up and help them with their struggles. Love you all!
