Interviews
Sicily Rose – Ain’t Very Cowboy
By: Lisa Steinberg
Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) That is a very hard question! I think I am still trying to find my exact sound. I’m still young and my voice is still changing and I’m growing with vocal lessons and such, so I don’t think I have found exactly where I want my sound to be just yet. [smiles]
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) Reba [McEntire], Kacey Musgraves, Carly Pearce and Lainey Wilson – they have been so influential in my music journey.
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Ain’t Very Cowboy.”
A) Well, this was such a fun one. I think country music has become so cool lately, so this is about a guy who is pretending to be a cowboy. But real cowboys always act a certain way and that is why we love them. [smiles]
Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) I think its high energy and just plain old fun.
Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?
A) Well, it’s more of just a performance video, so not too much story line went into it. We just wanted great visuals.
Q) “Ain’t Very Cowboy” was co-written with a few songwriting pals. What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) I work with an amazing group of writers and producers at Song Write Club! They have been great to work with and their process is so amazing, it helps to let the creative process flow naturally.
Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) I definitely work closely with everyone on my team to bring my vision to life. [smiles]
Q) With “Ain’t Very Cowboy” drops soon, but is this a prelude to a full album or EP?
A) I don’t know… Maybe. [smiles]
Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) I would love to do a duet with someone opposite – maybe Braxton Keith or Hudson Westbrook. I think that would be so amazing.
Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) I always love old country like Patsy [Cline], but I am loving Treaty Oak, Zach Top and Wyatt Flores right now!
Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?
A) Social media is such an amazing way to connect and be close to your fans. Mine have been so supportive of my music lately and I am so appreciative of them. I would be nothing without all their love and support.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Just how much I appreciate and love each and every one of them. They have been so great with me coming into country music and that can be scary to do, so they have made the transition so amazing for me!!
