Q) “Vampiric Metal” is how your music has been explained, but how would you describe your sound?

A) Hello and thank you for having us! We are bloody excited. Our music has the intensity of thrash and modern metal with a twist of rock melodies to add flavor to our dark vampire thirst for balance.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) We grew up on thrash like Slayer and Exodus and also Korn and Snot and some new metal. Lamb of God. Nervosa and Arch Enemy quench our thirst. Our bass player loves Primus and we also love a solid pop hook. Maybe Sammy [McPherson] has a guilty pleasure in Katy Perry and My Chemical Romance, but that’s not confirmed. That goes under the category of “allegedly.”

Q) Stacy McKiller is now at the forefront of the band. How has she changed the sound or enhanced the music that you make as Sinsation?

A) Yeah, Stacy really made everything her own, it’s completely different. It feels heavier and more real. She has taken the vampire style to a level never seen before. She also plays guitar, so she writes entire songs like “I Am Man.” That is our new single coming out on Sodeh Records, by the way.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Horns Up Fangs Out.”

A) It is an ode to our ever-growing brood! We love to play it live and have our brood of vampires sing it with us! Put your horns in the air and get your fangs out! You can’t escape!

Q) This song just seems to amp me up. What do you think it is about the song that fans have been connecting to?

A) That is killer to hear that! What we have noticed is that people love to chant the chorus and it grabs their attention when we all scream it at shows. I think it’s a call to arms for metal heads, rockers and the downtrodden misfits that just want to scream and jump in the pit to forget their troubles…even just for a moment.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) Well, originally, we wanted to have different people yelling “Horns Up Fangs Out” in different scenarios, but we decided to go with the vampires munching on a hot girl in the forest. [laughs] And also, we wanted to portray the energy created for the song, so we set up on the soundstage at The Factory in Santa Barbara (our vampire lair) and filmed some live shots. By the way we have some surprises for our next video for “I Am Man.”

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Some of our songs are written by McKiller and Sado [Rabaudi] and we through our different styles in to bring the song to life. Others like Sinsation Nation have the music written and the general concept for the lyrics. Then, Stacy works her dark magic and writes magical passages to create the song. It’s all very collaborative, everyone has a say and that’s what makes it so special.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) We have a pretty big part in that. We are all pretty seasoned in production and when we all bring ideas to the table, they really come together. Hopefully, we can get our friend Mikey Doling to produce a track soon though. He is incredible!

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future or are you more focused on releasing singles for the moment?

A) Great question. There are benefits to both, but since we signed with Sodeh Records we decided to put an album out, then release singles with videos as the year progresses. Album, singles, videos, tour…rinse, repeat.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) We love The Viper Room in LA and The Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. The Majestic Ventura Theatre in Ventura. But also, the Flower City Ballroom in Lompoc California is epic! Plus, Bakersfield has incredible energy. And, of course, Whiskey Richards in our hometown of Santa Barbara must be mentioned. We love Hollywood and as vampires we are naturally attracted to that area.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Mikey Doling for sure and our Sodeh Records labelmates.

Q) What artist/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Lorna Shore is brutal and so beautiful. Brutiful sound. Look! A new word. Gojira is so tight and heavy. The new Woyote record crushes it. Theo Hutchcraft-Mercy is so dark and cool. The Cure is always delicious. Raven Black is also tasty.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Oh, it’s HUGE! We got hooked up with all our sponsors through social media. All the labels we have signed with, as well as the endless kick ass bands we have played shows with and created tangible relationships with – also, incredible fans throughout the world. Robin in India, for example. Special thanks to TigerLuv Guitars. Warp Core Pickups. Poison Valley Clothing. Reapers Underground Productions. Coffin Cases. Sophia Tremelos. Felton Guitars. Soultone Cymbals. Collision Drumsticks.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) We absolutely LOVE you and thank you for supporting the bloodthirsty vampires of Sinsation. We will continue to work tirelessly and bring you the very best music and good times/energy to you. Who knows? Maybe we can turn you into one of us…One bite at a time.
