Star – The Reckoning

Cassie (Brandy Norwood) and Maurice (Lance Gross) are talking about how good it would be for them to host an ASA nomination party at Karma club. Maurice asks her about her father’s health, but she is not interested in talking about it. After the man leaves she calls the hospital where her sister had her baby fifteen years ago in order to learn more about the situation.

 

Derek (Quincy Brown) and Alex (Ryan Destiny) are discussing about Gigi’s (Keke Palmer) recent media scandal and even though the girl feels sorry for her there is nothing she can do to help. They also talk about her and Noah’s (Luke James) nomination for the ASA. And although Derek doesn’t feel that comfortable with it, he is willing to support her.

 

Carlotta (Queen Latifah) is finally back and ready to take her stand again and be reunited with Star (Jude Demorest). Megan (Lyndie Greenwood) pays a surprise visit to Noah and also gets the chance to meet Davis. Lucia (Zulay Henao) and Mateo (William Levy) had spent the night together and the man just can’t believe that the girl didn’t run away the next morning just the same way she cannot believe that he is still wearing his wedding ring. He assures her that he is only doing it for appearances with his investors but shows her the divorce papers that he already signed. They are willing to spend some more time together, but then he receives a call asking him to present himself immediately at Gravity Media. He and Carlotta meet with their investors where they are informed that they found out about Mateo’s gambling addiction and how he used their money to cover his debts, so they don’t want to take the chance and keep risking their money. While Carlotta and Mateo are discussing about the next steps for the company, she gets a call from Simone (Brittany O’Grady) saying that Star has been admitted to the hospital.

 

Carlotta arrives to the hospital where Alex, Simone, Cotton (Amiyah Scott) and Miss Bruce (Miss Lawrence) are already waiting for her. Apparently the only thing they were informed about is that the girl was attacked but nothing else. The doctor (Ben Peck) shows up and reports that Star presents an intercranial hypertension, which means her brain is swollen by the beating she was a victim of and they need to induce a come in order to give the chance for the brain to heal. Simone loses her grip and gets very annoyed and frustrated over such news and leaves in a haste.

 

Cassie is calling the hospital trying to dig up information about the kid that Carlotta gave birth to 15 years ago. While she waits Xander (Chad Michael Murray) comes up suddenly from behind her and covers her head with a plastic bag saying that it’s time to teach her a lesson.

 

Carlotta followed Simone and tries to soothe her about the whole situation. She asks her to not shut people out and promises that her sister will be just fine. Miss Bruce updates Noah about the recent events in regards Star and encourages him to keep going on for his baby boy.

 

In other matters Carlotta meets with Noah, Alex and Gigi to let them know about her and Mateo’s plan about the ASA nominations. They want to throw a ticketed party where the three of them will perform. Alex believes that she has to sing Take 3’s song on her own, but Carlotta assures her that she will have to perform “So Sick” with Noah instead. Alex doesn’t feel comfortable about it and while she tries to express her reasons  Gigi gets upset and decides to leave the place as she is not in the mood to hear Alex’s complaining.

 

Cotton witnesses a man beating a woman (Ashton B. Grooms) on an ally nearby. She comes close and realizes that said man is Leon (Kia Shae), someone she used to know, and they have a face to face encounter. Cotton is no longer scared of the man, so she puts a knife to his throat and demands him to give the woman’s money back. He does and then walks away, but promises that he will get his revenge on them.

 

Carlotta enters her sister’s apartment and sees some blood spots on the floor. She finds her sister at on the floor of the room beaten and bleeding. Cassie tells her that Xander was responsible for it and how exhausted she feels about the whole situation. Carlotta promises that she will take care of him from that moment on.

 

Noah visits Star at the hospital and lets her know how much he is struggling and how much he misses her. He assures her that he’ll be there for their son, but asks her to promise him that she will wake up soon.

 

Carlotta helps her sister to clean up after she is informed that Xander was also involved with Mateo’s business. Maurice arrives to Cassie’s building and is asking for permission to get in, but the woman doesn’t want to be seen like that so she asks Carlotta to take care of him.

 

Simone takes Davis to Star’s room and asks him to help her fight for her. Suddenly, she starts to sing and we can see Star singing along with them too while she is still in a coma. All of a sudden the monitor beeps and the doctors run in to assist her while Davis cries out loud.

 

Carlotta walks into Mateo’s office and confesses that she knows about his business with Xander. The man tries to defend himself saying that he was about to lose his company when he showed up out of nowhere and helped him. Carlotta makes it clear that the only reason he did it was to get to her since they have a long history. She suggests Mateo to go back to his roots, trust his instincts and he will find what he needs to keep going since it was the reason that he’s gotten so far in the first place.

 

Alex is found by Derek rehearsing their duet song alone. He wants to check on her since he found out about what happened to Star. She says that she knows the girl is a fighter and she is praying for her. She also apologizes for the duet with Noah, but once again Derek encourages her to pursue her dreams and keep going.

 

Maurice manages his way to Cassie’s apartment where he finally gets to see why she didn’t want to let him in earlier. He promises that as long as he is around Xander won’t get any closer to her again. Later that night Cassie and Carlotta meet. Cassie says that she is ready to start a new chapter on her life and that Xander won’t bother her again. She is planning to confront him and end everything once and for all.

 

The party’s red carpet is in full swing now as Alex, Gigi, Mateo and Lucia arrive to the venue. Alex watches how Gigi is overloaded with questions about her aunt’s suicide making the girl run away and hide. She follows her and tries to comfort her by saying that what happened to her aunt is not her fault.

 

In the meantime Noah has decided to take some oxy, which has put him in a very inconvenient state. He is singing “So Sick” to Davis when the baby begins to cry. Noah takes a bottle out of the freezer and puts in on a pot to warm it up. He also throws one of the baby’s rag over it. He keeps dancing until he slowly faints and the rag is set on fire. Simone walks in, watches Noah lying on the floor and the pills bottle on the counter and then runs to put out the fire. Megan walks in after her and sees the mess that has been created. Simone takes the baby and explains to Megan that she will take him with her due to obvious reasons.

 

Cotton is at the back of Karma Club when she hears noises coming from outside. She takes a bottle and walks out only to find out that the woman she defended earlier has returned with another four women asking for her help.

 

Cassie meets with Xander and they share a conversation where they come clean to one another. They blame each other for who they are now and the places they are in while both are holding their own guns. Cassie confesses that some of his projects didn’t achieve full completion because she outed him something that makes the man really upset. The girl walks away while Xander points a gun at her, but never really pulls the trigger. Instead, he points the gun to his chin and the screen fades to black. A loud shot being fired can he be heard.

 

Simone tells Miss Bruce about what happened with Noah and Davis. She also assures her that she wants to keep Davis with her until Star wakes up since she believes that Noah is not safe for him anymore. Noah wakes up in his apartment and Megan lets him know about how he almost got Davis killed. Noah’s concern is reflected on his face also by hearing that Megan does not want to be with him until he finds his way back. She loves him, but knows her love won’t make him sober.

 

On the other hand, Alex is waiting for Derek to come back home. When he does he is surprised to see everything the girl has prepared for him. There are screen and a projector flashing images and videos of both of them. There are candles and roses all around the house. Alex starts to sing for him and they dance together. When they are done the girl confesses everything he means to her and she ends up proposing to him.

 

Cassie returns to her sister’s home where the other woman has been waiting worried sick about her. Cassie tells her that everything is over but not for Carlotta as she confesses that the baby she had with her father is still alive.
