Stephanie Katherine Grant – The Goldbergs

Q) What can you tease is in store for your character Emmy on “The Goldbergs?”

A) I can definitely say there is going to be a lot going on with Emmy and her best friend, Adam. I can say that it is based off a really popular 80’s movie that I think everyone is going to like. I can’t wait for people to see it because it is going to be a lot of fun.

Q) Emmy and Adam tried to see if romance would work, but they were better friends. How will their relationship change now that Adam has a girlfriend?

A) They are still the best of friends. Emmy sometimes tags along with Dana and Adam, but they are definitely still friends. Adam’s relationship with Dana hasn’t really effected his relationship with Emmy. They are still really, really good friends.

Q) You seem to have a great relationship with Sean Giambrone. Was the chemistry instant between the two of you?

A) It was actually really natural. The first time I met Sean was before I had even worked on the episode. I went for my fitting the week before and we just immediately hit it off. We started talking about movies and music. We really do have an awesome connection on screen and definitely off screen.

Q) Comedic timing is a big part of the show. Is that a natural ability of yours or have you had to work at it?

A) It’s definitely both. I had trained a little bit in comedy beforehand a few years ago. Also, with “The Goldbergs” the writing is so amazing and the writers, directors and creator are all so amazing. It’s just so easy to fall into the timing because it’s just right there. It’s amazing! I had a little bit of training with comedic timing, but the writers and everyone just make it so easy.

Q) Knowing that Emmy Mirsky is a real person, what kind of guidance has creator Adam Goldberg given you towards your portrayal?

A) When I went in for my first audition, they showed me a picture of the real Emmy. I was amazed how much alike her and I actually looked. Adam really just told me to be myself and I really just felt the character. I would absolutely love to meet her one day. he definitely just said to keep doing what I am doing. He said feel the character, make her my own and really bring her to life.

Q) Who are some of the cast members that you haven’t had many scenes with that you would like to work with more?

A) I would love to work with Wendi [McLendon-Covey], who plays Beverly on the show. I have not gotten to work with her. I’ve just seen her in passing and I would love to work with her because I think she is an amazing actress and so funny. I also would like to work with George Segal because he is a legend. I’ve seen him on the show, but I have never met him in real life. Those two would be the people I would really, really love to work with.

Q) What have been your most memorable moments from filming?

A) When we were shooting The Goonies episode it was really funny we were all behind the camera and getting our gear on. They would say that they were ready for us and we would all start to put the gear on and that was so hilarious. it was so much fun because we really got to transform into The Goonies characters right there.

Q) Since Emmy and Adam are just friends, will we get to see her have any romantic relationships this season?

A) I don’t know about the future, but as of right now Emmy is really just focused on friendship. She is not interested in that kind of stuff just yet. Maybe down the road she’ll be interested in that.

Q) You are a part of social media. What is it like getting the instant fan feedback after episodes?

A) It’s been great! There are a couple people that right after an episode airs that will say they loved a scene and it’s really amazing fo rme to hear that. It gives me a portral into other people’s lives and I can really feel I’ve accomplished something if I have touched them. If they send a message to me to say that I have brightened their day and that really means a lot to me. I feel like I’ve had a part in being a little bit of brightness in their day.

Q) Is there anything else you would like to share with fans?

A) There are a going to be a lot of fun, twisted storylines that are really funny and I just can’t wait for you to watch them. I know I had a lot of fun shooting it so I can’t wait for everyone to see it and hear what they think about it.
