A Dr. Phil-type therapy session between Heavenly father and son and a team-up with former enemies kept the Winchesters busy in We Happy Few, which is the episode before the season finale.

Chuck (Rob Benedict) and Lucifer (Misha Collins) have a God to son talk. “You repaired my cosmic boo boo, now do you want to go to the playground?” Lucifer asks sarcastically. When Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) enter the room and try to help, Lucifer attempts to inflict Angel bodily harm upon them. “Don’t worry, he can’t hurt you,” Chuck assures the Winchesters, as he binded Lucifer’s ability as a precaution. “You’re controlling me?” Lucifer angrily asks his father before storming off. Nothing like a pouty angel acting like a spoiled little devil! Lucifer is blasting his music in his room refusing to talk with his father while Sam and Dean pound on the door. “Worse ‘Full House’ episode ever,” Dean says.

Meanwhile, Crowley (Mark Sheppard) is giving the “take back Hell” speech to his minions but to them it’s the same old song. Besides, the world’s ending again and this time it includes Hell. At this moment, Rowena (Ruth Connell) is also telling a witch crony, Clea (Barbara Eve Harris) about Amara (Emily Swallow) destroying the world.

While Chuck is making pancakes, Sam and Dean try to convince him to talk to his son. So, Sam and Dean play moderator for the Heavenly beings’ therapy session. Chuck’s Godly apology comes off as less than apologetic. And it would be easier if God was less “lordly” in his responses. This is difficult considering he is the Lord. “Do you have any idea what it’s like to argue with your father when your father is God?” Lucifer angrily asks Sam and Dean. Going on he says, “Just about every answer is going to be along the lines of ‘It had to be done.’” Dean says all fathers are like that. Dean thinks God should tell Lucifer what he wants to hear even if he lies noting, “I lie to Sam all the time.” Figuring the talk will go better without Sam and Dean’s help/interference, Chuck zaps them away. Then, he tells his son that he had no choice but to lock him away after the Mark of Cain corrupted him. Chuck tells Lucifer how much it hurt him to lock him away because he was his favorite. And with that, Lucifer finally gets his apology. Now, onto bigger and better things, namely defeating Amara.

Chuck surprises Dean by saying he will lock Amara up again instead of killing her. Dean admits that he tried to kill Amara, but couldn’t go through so he wants God to do the deed. Chuck explains the world needs Amara’s dark to balance the light. Besides, they’re short two Archangels and don’t have the time to resurrect them. Sam and Dean have an idea on a few soldiers to recruit for their army – Crowley and Rowena, a demon who was a power in Hell back in the day and a powerful witch with The Book of the Damned!

Meanwhile, Lucifer goes to Heaven to rally the forces, but the Angels want nothing to do with “The Adversary.” So, Lucifer allows his inner “Jiminy Cricket” to speak. With this, Castiel is able to talk with Angels. Unfortunately, they are not much happy with him either.

Dean comes to Crowley for his help. Crowley can complain all he wants, but whenever Dean asks for a favor, he’s always willing to help. Rowena; however, is less than accommodating to Sam and threatens to turn Crowley’s moose into a real moose when he tells her the Amara plan. Luckily, which Clea is interested and thinks some other coven witches will be as well.

During this time, Amara is attacking Donatello (Kevin Donatello) to get God’s location. She ends up sucking his soul and learns her brother are in Kansas. Men of Letters Bunker, here she comes!

Team Defeat Amara assemble in a warehouse and go over the plan. Rowena, Crowley and Lucifer will weaken her then Sam will move in and lock her back up because you see, he’ll now have the Mark of Cain. Say what now? Dean’s response is more like “a no way in Hell.” After Chuck explains that Sam is the only one capable of bearing the Mark of Cain, Dean reluctantly agrees.

Rowena uses her witch abilities of psychic communication to get Amara away from the Men of Letters Bunker and out in the open for the fight. Clea and the coven witches back Rowena up, but Amara knocks her out and kills the witches!

It’s Crowley and his demons turn next. He fares better as Amara is left bruised. Amara arrives at the warehouse where she angrily confronts her brother for not playing fair. Lucifer pulls his blade on her, but Chuck orders him to stop. The Mark of Cain starts to appear on Sam’s arm, but Amara vows she’ll never again be locked away. Suspending her brother mid-air, she electrifies Chuck which sends God crashing to the floor – where he appears to be dead!

Season Finale time! With God down for the count, how will Sam and Dean put an end to Amara’s reign of terror once and for all?
