Take Two – Ex’s and Oh’s
By: Gladys Luna
The sound of glass shattering is heard. Suddenly, the picture of Sam with her ex fiancé Dylan Wesley (Greyston Holt) comes to view. The robber runs out of the house when Dylan’s car is approaching to the main entrance. Soon Dylan realizes of what has happened to his home and he freezes on his spot at the scene before him.
The next day Eddie (Eddie Cibrian) arrives at the office and sees Berto (Xavier de Guzman) all dressed up. Monica (Alice Lee) is chasing him and taking some photos while he poses in front of his lap top. Sam (Rachel Bilson) comes out of the office questioning Eddie why he didn’t dress up as requested and reminding him of the “photoshoot” they were supposed to have in order to keep their website updated and attract more clients. While the duo is discussing whether or not it might work, Dylan shows up at the door looking for her. Sam doesn’t react pretty well at his presence and demands to be told the reason why is there after dumping her on tv. He explains that he was robbed the prior night and that one of his lap tops contained some videos and pictures of when the two of them were together that won´t do any well to any of them if they were released. Sam gets truly angry and starts to throw some punches at him, but Eddie stops her immediately.
After deciding to take the case, the three of them visit Dylan’s house and realize that the security tapes have also been stolen. Right that moment Sam’s phone blows up with a lot of notifications. Then, a video of a man called Garrett Stevens (Craig Haas) from Tabloid Junky pops up and it is announced that sex tape of two TV stars is about to be released, which suggests that it might be the one with Dylan and Sam in it.
Eddie calls one of his contacts at Tabloid Junky and he is advised that they don’t have the sex tape yet, but they are negotiating so they still have some time to get it back. Sam attempts to call her parents and tell them what is about to happen and that’s how they realize that their phones are automatically connected to the house WIFI, a tool that (with the help of Berto) they use to track the burglars.
That is how they are led to an apartment complex and find out that a teenage fan of Sam named Zeke (Patrick Lubczyk) has stolen Dylan’s laptops and watches, but they manage to make an arrangement with him in exchange for the things he took. When Eddie asks him why he stole the SD cards of the security footage he confesses that he never did.
On their way to the office, Sam, Eddie and Dylan are intercepted by three black SUV’s. A bunch of masked people pull them out of the car and steal it along with the laptop. When they manage to go back to the office, Eddie questions Dylan if there is something he might be hiding from them, but he denies it. He is also asked by Eddie to make a list of the possible people that could be interested in making any damage to him, but he can’t seem to think of anyone at the moment. Sam tries to help Dylan with his list and suddenly the man apologizes for what he did to her and swears that he has changed. Sam seems to believe it. Eddie watches them from the other side of the glass in a very nostalgic way. All of a sudden, his phones rings, taking him out of the daze he was in and he is told that they have found their car.
Sam and Eddie go to find the car while he questions her if she and Dylan could have found anyone that might be a suspect and she realizes that he had been watching them. She confesses that Dylan apologized to her, but she is not sure that she believes him just yet. When they arrive at the place where their car had been abandoned they meet with Detective Rollins (Aliyah O’Brien). When she asks them how the car ended up there, Eddie comes up with a lie saying that the battery was acting up so he left it there. Obviously, the woman doesn’t believe a word he is saying but decides to let them have it and leaves the place not without giving them a ticket since that is a “no-parking” zone.
When the duo is left alone, Eddie checks on the odometer that he had reset before they were attacked and finds out how many miles the attackers traveled as well as the routes they may have used. With the help of Berto and the security cameras, they might have an image of the ones that took the car away. Berto informs them that he has talked to a contact that works at Dylan’s internet service provider and managed to find a list of all of his recent internet history and data traffic. He found out of some transactions that have been made to an offshore account to the Cayman Island Financial Bank under the name of “Ross Wilcox.” Sam identifies that as the alias Dylan uses when he travels and as far as she can understand Dylan has now become a criminal.
Sam and Eddie visit Dylan and confront him about the information they were handed. Sam punches him again, but Eddie stops her when he realizes that they have been photographed. Dylan denies everything and says that he might been hacked. He asks them to help him figure out who is using his name and accounts and the duo agree. They ask him to stay at their office for as long as the investigation takes.
Berto has found the attackers pictures taken while they were driving Eddie’s car. The faces seem to be blurry, but he has a clear image of the very particular “skull” tattoo on the driver’s arm. Monica tells him that to judge by how red the skin looks the tattoo is probably brand new, so it is very likely that he won’t find it in any of his databases. She also tells him that she knows a tattoo artist that is known for doing these kinds of jobs so she will help him with it.
Finally, the attackers are identified by Berto so Sam and Eddie follow the lead the young guy gave them and that is how they found themselves at an abandoned warehouse. They find a bunch of bean sacks. Eddie opens one of them and finds heroin packages in it. Before they do anything else, somebody yells at them from afar to freeze. Both of them are taken into custody and interrogated by Agent Bowman (Alison Wandzura) and Agent Daily (Aaron Pearl) about the heroin. They believe that Dylan was trafficking the drugs and they were helping him. After a while, Sam and Eddie are released with the help of Agent Rollins. Eddie asks Berto to take Dylan out of the office before the DEA finds him and they all meet at a coffee shop nearby. After discussing the possible ways that Dylan was set up, they come to the conclusion that Brock Cassidy (Tristan Shire), Dylan’s manager, was the one behind the whole trafficking thing.
Eddie and Sam intercept Brock outside his office building and face him with the facts they now know about him, but he denies everything. He goes back to his office and then Sam and Eddie meet Zeke, who had skillfully entered the manager´s office while the duo distracted him. The man gets arrested and the whole problem is once again solved. Sam meets with Dylan to update him on the situation. He thanks her for saving him and when she asks him for the lap top password he gives him a date, which happens to be of the day they met. He asks her if there might be another chance for them, but Sam just wishes him good luck and walks away.
In the meantime, Eddie and Agent Rollings meet at a bar. She asks him to give her the lap top as evidence and he suggests that he may personally deliver it to her apartment later that day but she says that it may not be a good idea. She lets him know that she had noticed the way he looks at Sam and the effect the girl has on him and she believes he must give it a try with Sam.
Eddie goes back to the office and finds Sam trying to delete the sex tape videos. They share a quick chat before he goes to his desk. Sam enters the laptop, finds some videos of her and Dylan when they were together, and a hint of melancholy crosses her face; then she looks at Eddie and deletes the videos right away.
Another case solved, another episode gone. If you are as intrigued as me about the next case to come, make sure to watch “Take Two” next Thursday at 10/9c on ABC. ¡Hasta la próxima!
