Taylor Ball- Standing Tall
Q) What are the current projects that you are working on?
A) The current projects that I am working on are “Still Standing” on CBS and not too long ago I finished a couple episodes of an HBO show called “Unscripted” with George Clooney and Krista Allen, that aired this year.
Q) You are on the show “Still Standing.” How has Brian’s character evolved this season?
A) Brian’s character evolves in a lot of different ways. In one episode he knows how to break dance and in the first episode he actually loses his virginity. That was a big step because I never thought that would come to Brian. He went to Europe and he’s even more educated, if possible.
Q) What made you originally want to be a part of the show?
A) I wanted to be a part of the show just because the character is so different than me in real life that I thought it would be really interesting and fun to be someone else. I think that’s really why I love doing it.
Q) What is your most memorable moment from filming?
A) I would have to say my most memorable moment is the same place every year. At the end of the season, we always have a big party where everybody is saying goodbye and it’s kind of sad because you don’t know if you’re going to come back next year. That’s probably my most memorable moment.
Q) How do you warm up before a taping?
A) I used to warm up by going over my lines and I would get too nervous about it. It’s really not that big of a deal. Everybody makes it so easy for you. The directors are really cool that you are just not nervous about it. I just go out there now and do my thing. It’s a lot easier that way, I think.
Q) What is it about the show that you think draws in so many viewers?
A) I think it draws in a lot of viewers because I think people can relate to it on a bunch of different levels. There are a bunch of different characters that people probably have in their family, like the kind of bad parent that is trying to cope, the nerdy son or even the sarcastic teenage daughter.
Q) What is it like working with Jami Gertz and Mark Addy?
A) They are two of the nicest people I have ever met! They just make every day so much easier. Everything I’ve learned about comedy is pretty much from them. They are like my teachers.
Q) Does that cast have a lot of chemistry off the set?
A) Yes there is! Sometimes we all go out to dinner together or something like that. We talk a lot. I can talk to them about stuff that I can talk to my own family about. It’s really nice to have that. It is like we’re a big family so it doesn’t make it hard every day to act like they are my family.
Q) You have a brown belt in Aikido. What originally got you interested in it?
A) Actually, one of my friends did it and told me I could come on and audit a class to see if I wanted to do it. I did it and I’ve been doing it since I was around 7 years old.
Q) What is the Gabriel Project and why is it so important for you to support it avidly?
A) The Gabriel Project is important to me because it helps children in Africa and in countries that don’t have a lot of money for heart surgeries. It gives them the surgeries that they need to survive and it’s saving lives every day! We basically get money together and have auctions and stuff to get money. I personally donate to make up for whatever the donations can’t get. We send the funds over there and they fly them out to hospitals in America. We pay for everything, their food, their hospital and their hotels and then give them the surgery they need since they can’t have it anywhere else.
Q) You’ve been known to constantly carry a video camera. What got you interested in making your own movies?
A) I think that was just from me and my friends having so much fun. I just didn’t ever want to forget those memories. I am just trying to make as many memories as I can every day.
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) In my spare time, which I don’t have a lot of time now, I love to surf and play guitar. Most of the time I like to hang out with my friends and not think about work and just relax.
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A) Thank you! I know a lot of people say that it wouldn’t really be possible with out them, but it really is that way in my situation. If no one watched the show we’d get bad ratings and reviews and we wouldn’t be on the air. It really is in their hands and I just want to say thank you to everybody.
