The episode opens with the gang watching Ellen (Ellen DeGeneres). Raj (Kunal Nayyar) thinks it is nice watching the show with his friends. Amy (Mayim Bialik) says it is not nice as she is having the scientists who are trying to steal their Nobel Peace Prize on as guests.  Sheldon (Jim Parsons) says that she will enjoy seeing her expose them as the coattail riding frauds they are.

Leonard (Johnny Galecki) says that is Ellen’s brand: gotcha journalism. Penny (Kaley Cuoco) says that last week she took down John Krasinski by getting him to admit he loved his wife. It was brutal.

They begin to watch the show where Ellen introduces Dr. Pemberton (Sean Astin) and Dr. Campbell (Kal Penn). Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) wants to know why she has scientists on and Sheldon says it is so someone can explain natural phenomena. Howard (Simon Helberg) says he loves her, but think!

Ellen interviews the doctors and asks them to explain their discovery. They make a joke and Sheldon thinks the audience is laughing at them. Amy says they like them and Sheldon thinks that will change when they have to explain super-asymmetry and they panic the way Leonard does with pull ups. The doctors continue by singing a physics parody of the song “Let’s Get Physical.”

Sheldon goes to see the doctors at their hotel and yells at them for being charming. They think it is a compliment and invite him in for parfait, which is $12 and just yogurt in a glass.  Sheldon wants them to tell everyone in a press conference that it was his and Amy’s discovery. They say no and say just because they proved something by accident doesn’t mean they didn’t prove it. Dr. Pemberton then goes into his wife’s affair and Dr. Campbell tells him when he wins she will see he is not a fraud.  Sheldon thinks otherwise and gets shamed for siding with Linda.

At lunch the guys discover the doctors posted a celebrity bus tour video. Raj talks about how he saw Tom Hanks talking to his gardener once and said he was even nice when he planted the wrong color azaleas. Leonard doesn’t see how them self promoting is a big deal. He says no one ever won a Nobel for being nice. Raj asks if they know who will win one and Howard asks if it is Tom Hanks.  Raj says he helped the gardener replant.

President Siebert (Joshua Malina) comes over to tell Sheldon that he doesn’t have to worry about the doctors and their popularity because they will get the scientist community behind him. Leonard believes it is about the work and Siebert says that the university will host a reception for him and Amy so other scientists can hear about their work and make themselves more likable.

Bernie tells Howard she can’t get the kids to go to sleep because Halley is afraid of the dark and Michael cries because of the nightlight. Howard wants to know why and Bernie says they can ask him when he learns how to speak…and he can also ask him why he thinks birds are so funny.

Halley cries and Howard goes up to check on her. Bernie wants to know why she is so afraid and Howard says she is his kid, too. When he is upstairs he tells Halley about being afraid in space in the dark with a full diaper.

Amy and Sheldon discuss the guests at the reception and it turns out Sheldon has a not-so-stellar history with most of those attending. He says that if he knew he needed them one day he never would have alienated them. Amy says that doesn’t help them and Sheldon says it’s also not true.

Bernie is sketching something when Stuart (Kevin Sussman) comes in and looks at the drawing. He thinks Halley drew it at preschool. She says she did draw it and it is supposed to be an astronaut. Halley (Pamela Adlon voice) tells Stuart about Howard’s story and how it should be a book.  He offers to help draw the pictures and it will be a nice change of pace from his usual drawings. She asks what they are and he says goodnight.

Penny and Leonard are cleaning up when his watch beeps. She thinks someone is getting in touch with him, but it turns out he just made his exercise goal for the day.  She asks if it was by doing the dishes. He says he has his goals and she has hers.

Sheldon and Amy stop by. Leonard brags about his workout. Amy needs cookie dough and Penny gives them chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. Sheldon complains about the oatmeal raisin and they explain that the cookies are being sent to give the scientists attending their reception baked goods because of Sheldon’s behavior.  Leonard and Penny think they are bribing them.  Sheldon says people can be oblivious to social cues.  Penny thanks him for pointing that out.

George F. Smoot (himself), Kip Thorne (himself) and Frances H. Arnold (herself) all get the packages, but throw them out. Frances goes to try one, but realizes it is oatmeal raisin and shudders.

Amy and Sheldon are eating dinner when Sheldon gets a text from another scientist. He thinks it is the cookies spelling out thank you,  but Amy says it is not the word “thank.”

Raj and Howie are hanging out when Bernie shows him the book she and Stuart made.  It is called The Frightened Little Astronaut. One of Stuart’s friends wants to publish it, but Howie get mad saying the world does not need to know he is a frightened little astronaut. He storms out and Raj quips that it should have been called “The Bitchy Little Astronaut.”

Sheldon is brooding and Leonard wants to know what is wrong.  Sheldon feels bad because Amy doesn’t deserve to pay for his mistakes. Leonard wants to know when he started caring and he says it had to be after Amy got shocked by the Christmas tree lights and he laughed.

Penny asks Amy if all the scientists are really not attending and how did Sheldon insult them.  Amy says he suggested Smoot’s data had an inelegance.

Sheldon wishes he could invent a time machine to reverse this. Leonard also says he can think before he speaks, but the time machine will  most likely happen first. Sheldon says he doesn’t know if he has gone too far and Leonard says he can help. Sheldon suggests a code word. Leonard decides on shut up, which Sheldon thinks will work because everyone already uses it and he won’t suspect.

Stuart goes to talk to Howard about the book. He thinks it could be good for his career, but Howard doesn’t want to be seen as a coward. Stuart says he threw up when a balloon popped at the store.  Howard asks if they can take the name off, but the publisher wants it only because it was written by a real astronaut. Howard suggests some changes to make him sound braver.

Leonard and Penny go to see Professor Thorne to discuss Sheldon and Amy and to convince him to give them a chance.  Leonard points out that there were a lot of jerks in Science and Penny tries to sound as if she knows what is going on.

Bernie and Howard discuss the book and he says he doesn’t want to relive the embarrassment. Bernie says the book can help kids not be afraid and he says that was quite a guilt trip. She just says she is so proud of him.

Amy and Sheldon thank Penny and Leonard for getting everyone to attend the reception. They go to share the story with some of the scientists, who think that coming up with the idea at the wedding was a wonderful story. Sheldon says it was not the highlight, but he cannot discuss that for reasons he does not understand.

Penny wants to know what a physics rumble looks like. Leonard says that it’s like angry chickens or puppets fighting.

Dr. Campbell and Dr. Pemberton arrive and Amy wants to know why they are there on their night. Sheldon says they can stay for pigs in blankets….and says that is the plural. He tells Amy that their grasp at super asymmetry is tenuous at best. Amy thinks it is clever.  Sheldon says he knows more than plural words.

Leonard asks if this will be a problem and Sheldon and Amy ask the doctors to settle a bet based on asymmetry. They agree with Sheldon and thank him because without them, they would not have been proven super asymmetry without them.

Sheldon says they didn’t do anything and Leonard tells them to shut up. He is confused but then realizes it is the code word. The doctors go on to discuss their feelings since this all began and Amy screams at them, calling them impostors and frauds. Sheldon asks if that is what he sounds like and shudders when Leonard tells him yes.

The episode ends with Howard reading the book, which he adds things to. Bernie calls him out on it and he says he will get to his bossy wife later.
