The Big Bang Theory – The Wedding Gift Wormhole

The episode opens with the gang in Leonard and Penny’s living room. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) tells Amy (Mayim Bialik) that the honeymoon is over and now he feels like they are a married couple. She says they are like the ones on TV, not like her parents.

Howard (Simon Helberg) quips that you aren’t truly a married couple until someone pees with the door open and the other one is ok with it. Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) says that she isn’t, but Howard disagrees.

Amy gives out gifts, which are I Love NY shirts. Leonard (Johnny Galecki) thinks they got gifts at the gift shop because they forgot to get them earlier. Sheldon says they remembered on the plane and they got them via WIFI and Amazon Prime. Bernadette thinks the baby will love throwing up on it while Sheldon gives examples of what NY could stand for. Raj (Kunal Nayyar) asks if he Googled the initials “NY.” Sheldon tells him to draw his on conclusions.

Penny (Kaley Cuoco) says the gifts were very thoughtful, until she realizes they got her a XXL. This leads to an “I told you so” from Amy and Sheldon saying she was right.

The newlyweds are writing out thank you cards. Amy scolds Sheldon for complaining about how many he had to write. They get to Leonard and Penny’s gift and try to figure out what it is. They were told it was the perfect gift and are confused.

At the comic book store, Stuart (Kevin Sussman) is talking to his new lady Denise (Lauren Lapkis). Raj and Howard are confused as to what is happening. Apparently the new couple was making out at the wedding. The couple awkwardly say goodbye and Stuart tells the guys the details of their relationship, which was kissing at the wedding and their new awkward encounter. He wants to ask her out so he gets advice from the guys.

That night Sheldon and Amy try to guess the gift by getting into the minds of Leonard and Penny. They decide to solve the mystery then and Sheldon thinks that this and staying up late means married life is fun!

Stuart is happy because he got the date. Howard continues to give him advice while Bernadette leaves the room, but not before she comments on his scary smile.

Sheldon gives Leonard and Penny their thank you card and to also quiz them on the gift. After he leaves, the two laugh over the fact that he can’t figure it out.

Sheldon then quizzes Howard, who tells him it is the clue to a scavenger hunt. The truth comes out when he leaves: it is a gift Howard and Bernadette gave Leonard and Penny, which was originally a gift that Raj gave Howard and Bernadette. The gift keeps getting passed on because nobody can figure out what it is.

The newlyweds begin their scavenger hunt by asking Bert (Brian Posehn). He just tells them it is quartz, which leads to them going to the coffee shop where they first met.

Stuart wants advice from Raj, who is initially offended, but then realizes he is the ladies man of the group. However, Raj makes it about himself, so Stuart leaves.

At the coffee shop, the couple go to their table where they had their first date. Sheldon freaks out over gum and tells the couple sitting there they could get married as well, but it turns out they are brother and sister.Amy looks through the lost and found, which she thinks means they were lost and then they found each other. They find a locket, which they think they think represents their new life. Sheldon thinks a pair of sunglasses represents their bright future.

Stuart goes to the house with an orange spray tan and darker hair. He is freaking out because the date is in an hour. Howard makes some Willy Wonka and Oompa Loompa jokes while Bernadette suggests he reschedule.

Raj calls his dad to tell him he wants to be in an arranged marriage. His dad says that if he is going to do this, he needs to stop posting pictures of him and the dog in matching sweaters. He then says he is dating a younger woman, but maybe she has a sister.

Sheldon and Amy thank their friends again for the gift and supposed scavenger hunt. They give them their own to do, which will eventually become their WIFI password.

Raj comes over to tell them he is getting married.

The episode ends with Stuart picking up Denise and her making jokes at his disastrous makeover.
