The Classic Kids – Just Begun

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) We strive for a unique sound but if we had to generalize it we would say it’s a mix of retro influences with a pop alternative sound.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Our musical influences vary with each member some include: Bruce Springsteen, The Doors, Bryan Adams, Don Henley and The Police.

Q) Your new song is “Just Begun.” Talk about the concept behind it. What kind of fan response have you gotten to it?

A) The concept behind it is a very feel good song with a bit inspiration behind it. The fan response has been great so far people seem to enjoy it. Overall very positive feedback.

Q) What is it about that track that fans are really connecting with?

A) We feel that inspiration is a very relatable topic. When people find a line that they can identify with, it creates a mutual connection.

Q) How does the concept for the video play into the song’s message?

A) The video is very happy and optimistic, just like the song. We feel that the main actor Afika Nx (who is also an artist – check him out) did an excellent job portraying that message.

Q) What is your process like for writing music? Do you need music before you can create your lyrics?

A) Every song is different and the process varies from each song. Sometimes a member brings a personal concept. Sometimes we all collaboratively create it. But usually the lyrics have come after the music has been written.

Q) How much of a hand have you had in the production of your music?

A) That also varies from song to song. Sometimes we will bring a concept and our producer Christian Medice will add to it. Sometimes we write together from scratch.

Q) What can fans expect from a live The Classic Kids show?

A) We always strive to have a connection with our crowd so that you cannot only hear the music, but feel it as well. We also aim to replicate as many elements as we can from the album live.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) There are so many talented acts out there right now. Halsey is definitely an act who we really admire as well as the Young Rising Sons. We would to love to collaborate with them.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way to connect with your fans?

A) We feel that social media is a great way to reach out to potential and existing fans. It keeps them updated and connected to us. Nowadays it’s very hard to not have social media content.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?
