The Flash – Back To Normal

“The Flash” gave us an episode that again addressed the ramifications of the particle accelerator. In doing so, it we learned it gave us another meta human and reminded us that even though some good came out of the accident (Enabling Barry Allen to become The Flash), for the most part worse happened as normal people’s lives were ruined.

The episode begins as we see what life is like for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) without speed. Boring and monotonous. And he’s clumsy, dropping a mug on the floor without the ability to use super speed to catch it in time.

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) tries to get a vibe from Zoom’s helmet to help locate Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). Wells (Tom Cavanagh) says he’s off to find Jesse, (Violett Beane) using the cellular dead zone (only something that those born on Earth Two have) she left behind to help in the search.

At Zoom’s lair, Jay (Teddy Sears) tells Caitlin he’s not the monster she believes him to be and will prove to her he is still the man she loved. He then leaves. Caitlin is shocked when she comes face to face with her doppleganger. “What do you know, I can still pull off brunette,” Killer Frost says. Danielle Panabaker is doing an excellent job giving Caitlin and Killer Frost two distinct personalities.

Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) wants his father to arrange a meeting for him with The Flash. He is certain Joe (Jesse L. Martin) knows The Flash’s identity.

Wells has located Jessie, but she refuses to leave with him despite Harrison’s claim she is in danger. When Harrison leaves, he gets in an accident and a man abducts him at the scene.

Killer Frost tells Caitlin she knows all about her from Cisco. “Tell me, why hide the girls?” Killer Frost asks in comment to Caitlin’s less than sexy blouse that conceal her breasts. The moans of the Man in the Mask is annoying Killer Frost. She offers Caitlin a deal: Get her out of the carbine cell and she will help her off the island.

Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) find the accident scene. They have to find Wells. They decide to question Jessie.

Meanwhile, a man named Griffin Grey (Haig Sutherland) is holding Harrison Wells hostage. He reveals his super strength due to the particle accelerator. That’s the up side, the down side is he is rapidly aging. Griffin Grey is eighteen years old, but looks like he’s in his thirties. If Wells doesn’t find a way to change him back from the effects of the particle accelerator, he’ll be dead soon. Over at Star Labs Cisco, Barry, Jessie and Iris learn about Griffin Grey as well.

Killer Frost and Caitlin share stories about their cold and unloving mothers. Caitlin is also busy working to get her out of the carbine cell before Zoom returns.

Barry, Cisco and Joe track down Griffin Grey who hurls cylinders at them. Grey also continues to age.

Later, Griffin Grey tells Wells how he ruined his life. He had a girlfriend he was going to marry. He saw her a while ago, but she didn’t even recognize him because he looks like her father.

Caitlin breaks Killer Frost out of the carbine cell, but Killer Frost double crosses her. “We had a deal,” Caitlin says. “Is everyone on your Earth this gullible?” Killer Frost snickers. I saw that coming a mile away when Killer Frost first offered the deal. Bad Guy 101 – Tell what you know they want to hear if you need their help. Killer Frost tells Caitlin that Zoom only kept her alive because they look alike and now he will have no use for her. Killer Frost attempts to kill Caitlin, but Zoom stops her and kills her. He warns Caitlin that the “man in the mask” is next if she tries to escape again.

Griffin Grey is furious as he believes Wells is stalling and had no intention on trying to find a cure to his affliction. Barry, Cisco and Joe have tracked Grey’s location and have arrived to rescue Wells. “Why do villains always have the creepiest hangouts?” Barry asks. “Because they’re crazy,” Joe responds. The Flash battles Griffin Grey who gets stronger, but he also continues to age. He delivers some deadly punches before dropping dead of old age. In death, Griffin Grey reverts back to an eighteen year old. I really felt sorry for Griffin Grey. He was a young man with a bright future who died before his time. Science should save lives not end them. So sad.

Jessie is happy her dad is okay and apologies to Harrison for running off. Wally meets The Flash and thanks him for saving his life, promising not to waste the life that he saved.

Harrison Wells feels remorse over what happened to Griffin Grey, even though it was Earth One’s Wells and not him. “I have to answer for what I’ve done.” With that, Wells tells Barry he’s going to recreate the particle accelerator accident.

Will Harrison Wells be able to recreate the particle accelerator accident? Will it give Barry back his speed or put his life in danger? With the season winding to a close, the excitement is building.
