The Flash – Goldfaced

To stop Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) from figuring out who Nora’s (Jessica Parker Kennedy) accomplice is, Thawne (Tom Cavanagh) encourages her to use a distraction against him. She’s still nervous about the repercussions of her father finding out about her working with Thawne.

 

Iris (Candice Patton) is working on her computer while Barry (Grant Gustin) is trying to get her opinion on where to put her couch in the new office. After getting nowhere, Iris admits that she’s distracted because she hasn’t had many hits on her paper and she thinks it’s from another blogger’s review on her writing. Barry tells her that she shouldn’t listen to it because she’s a “real writer.” Iris admits that it’s getting to her because she hasn’t written anything that she’s really passionate about since Devoe. Barry realizes that she wants to write about Cicada and tells her to go ahead. She jumps up to go do some more digging, while Barry heads to S.T.A.R Labs.

 

At S.T.A.R Labs Barry, Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) are finalizing the meta-cure with a last element that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) sent over. Caitlin explains how Cisco got the new element and how exactly it will work to stop Cicada (Chris Klein). The problem is that they need to figure out a way to knock Cicada out long enough for the cure to work. They brainstorm about how to do it when Caitlin mentions a device they will need. The few that a company built were stolen, but Ralph may have an idea on where to find them.

 

They meet with Earl Cox (Paul McGillion) and he gives them the name Goldface (Damion Poitier). Barry says that he’s stolen more weaponized tech than any criminal in the city. He tells them how things work with Goldface and they decide to go meet with him to see if they can get the piece of tech that they need. Barry isn’t so keen on the idea, but he agrees to the plan.

 

Nora tells Sherloque that they’re in Jitters for a tea that has been launched, but it’s really just so she can set up a plan for him to meet a woman. While she’s manipulating the scene, Thawne’s voice is in the background. A woman slips on a coffee that Nora placed specifically to get knocked over and Sherloque catches her. Thawne says that this woman will be the key to getting Sherloque’s focus off of Nora. She introduces herself as Renee Adler (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). Sherloque starts making comments about what he knows about her and instead of it being charming she gets freaked out and leaves as she thinks he’s a stalker. Nora asks why he said all those things and he says he was just trying to skip the small talk. When he tries to go back to his work, Nora convinces him to let her help him get the girl.

 

Barry and Ralph are heading to Goldface’s hideout with Caitlin in their ear. They stop and say the access words and the ground opens up, making them fall through and losing their connection to Caitlin. They’re on the ground surrounded by men with guns.

 

They place meta cuffs around their arms and when asked who they are Ralph tells them that Big Raf sent them. They say okay and are introduced to the market. As they’re walking through the market, Ralph says he’ll find the field generator and leaves Barry by himself. One vendor tries to sell him something, but Barry declines until the man mentions the weapon being a CCPD killer. Barry tests it and it blows up a test dummy with CCPD armor on. Barry looks audibly concerned and asks the man how much it will cost to take them all. The man gets concerned and presses a button alerting the Goldface team.

 

Iris is interviewing a man about workers’ opinions. She starts off small, but at the mention of Orlin Dwyer the man gets antsy. She asks if Dwyer threatened him and encourages him to talk by mentioning how her articles helped people come forward with information. He gives in and gives her an address under the name Robbie Byrne.

 

Barry’s still trying to purchase the guns when Ralph pulls him away. Barry tells him that he was trying to get the guns away from criminals hands. Ralph gets him to leave it alone before he blows their cover and they go to meet the person with the tech they’re looking for. Goldface welcomes them and asks to make a deal about the Neuro-Stasis Field Generator when a guy comes to whisper something in his ear. Goldface gets suspicious about them and asks Barry who he is.

 

After some time, Barry comes up with a story and introduces himself as The Chemist. Goldface seems impressed and the men with guns stand down. Ralph asks about the business they were discussing before, but Goldface needs help with a job first. He’s trying to steal a 3D printer from a lab and tells them that he needs them to do it.

 

Iris arrives at the old house but no one is home. She takes it upon herself to enter through a window instead. She places her bag on the table while she goes to look around. She notices that the place looks like the drawing Nora gave them and sees the dollhouse. While she’s still looking, Dwyer enters the house. She manages to hide on the side of the couch before he can see her. He starts taking things out of his bag and when he hears a noise, he pulls out his dagger and moves to the side of the couch, but Iris is gone.

 

Nora has taken it upon herself to bring Sherloque’s ex-wives for help in getting love advice. Sherloque isn’t happy about that because he still owes all of them money and he knows that is why they responded. The wives pop up and we see that it is the same woman just from different earths. They immediately start fussing at him about how Superman delivered his alimony and how they haven’t gotten theirs. Nora says that it’s a big misunderstanding. They start saying all of the the bad things he’s done to them. One of them threatens to send Breacher to him if their money isn’t sent to them in a month. All but one leaves and she tells him that some people are just destined to be alone. He gets upset and leaves Nora in the room.

 

Barry’s still struggling with going through with the robbery when Ralph tries to talk to him about it. Barry cuts him off and tells him that he will do it because he was warned and he couldn’t follow through because he tried to get the guns off the street first. He tells him that sometimes the ends justifies the means and if he wants to get what they need, he’ll have to go through with it.

 

Iris is sneaking out of the house when the door makes a sound alerting Orlin. She quickly gets on the other side. She tells him that she’s a reporting looking for Robbie Byrne. Orlin says that he’s Robbie and locks the door. They sit in the kitchen while Iris asks him questions about contaminated water in the neighborhood. The entire time Orlin is staring suspiciously at her. She asks if he has a daughter and he says that he used to. When she starts to ask more questions, he tries to get her to leave. She asks if she can some back the next day, but he says they can finish it now.

 

Nora comes in while Sherloque is attempting to make an espresso. He’s still feeling down about what his ex-wife said, but Nora tells him that he can’t “deduce his way to a happy ending.” He has to move one step at a time.

 

Barry and Ralph arrive to the lab with the other men. The leader tells them what to do, but before they get into the building Ralph tricks Barry and locks him on the truck. Ralph tells Barry that he was right and he doesn’t want him to have to do the job. Barry yells after him to no avail. Ralph lies to the leader about why Barry stayed back while Barry maneuvers a way out of the truck. Everyone’s searching the lab when Ralph finds what the needs. He sees a paper on what the printer is going to be used for and knocks one of the criminals out. They grab Ralph so that they can continue to steal the printer. Once they get outside, Barry and Ralph knock the two armed men out before they can dispose of them. They go back inside to fight the criminals before they can steal the printer. They have a big fight with their guns that have a stun setting. They manage to knock everybody out, but when their cuffs start blinking they go outside to meet Goldface. While he’s talking they start shooting at him, but it doesn’t effect him much. His skin regenerates back over the gold and he starts fight them with his chains. He gets one around Ralph’s neck, but when Barry distracts him he sends the gold chain his way and hits a machine that electrocutes him. The gold starts to seep out of his body but he’s still alive.

 

Iris thanks Orlin for his help and goes to leave, but he notices her pick up a bag that she didn’t have when she came in. He tossed his dagger at the door before she can make it out. Iris sprays him with pepper spray and knocks the dollhouse over before she runs. He gets in front of her but she grabs a knife. He knocks it out of her hand and before he can stab her with the dagger, she stabs him in his chest wound with a pen. He screams and falls back as the chest wound glows. She leaves him with the words, “We’re gonna beat you.”

 

Barry and Ralph are back at S.T.A.R. Labs and realize that even though they didn’t get the field generator they were able to take down the meta without their powers. Barry gets a call from Iris and races over to check Orlin’s house. Ralph and Killer Frost breach in and they mention they they didn’t find anything. Iris asks if they found the device they needed, but she tells them that she doesn’t think they need it. She walks over to pick up the pen she stabbed Orlin with and says that she knows how to give the cure to Cicada because she knows his weakness. The pen is covered in Orlin’s blood.

 

Sherloque sees Renee at Jitters again and tells her that he only knew all those things because he’s a detective. She tells him to prove it by doing the same to someone else and he does. He offers to buy her a tea and she gives him her number. She knocks over a drink before she leaves. As she’s exiting the door Sherloque gets a look on his face that says he’s just come up with something new. He whispers, “You’re a meta.”

 

He goes back to S.T.A.R. Labs and instead of working on his Nora case he starts to focus on Cicada so that he can save Renee from him. Nora goes back to Thawne with a smile on her face and they proceed to continue what they started.
