The morning after the quarantine, Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) dances around the apartment while Dr. Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) tries to maintain her composure during yoga, Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) jogs outside, and Dr. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) practices kickboxing with a punching bag.

Lea jumps when she notices Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) staring at her, and he compliments her dancing. Lea tells him to warn her next time, and asks why he’s up so early. Shaun rejects her suggestions to destress, and Lea tells him that he needs to get out and have a day off from his medical journals.

As the hospital is cleaned up, Dr. Marcus Andrews (Hill Harper) asks Carmen Dunn (Cheryl White) why the hospital is under investigation. Andrews argues that the CDC proved that there was nothing the hospital could do to prevent the virus’ victims, but Dunn requests all records of what happened after the first outbreak patients arrived.

Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez) visits Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) and is surprised to see she is working from her bed. He asks if she needs anything, but she tells him that she doesn’t have to play the role of supportive friend just because they slept together. Melendez insists his concern is genuine, but Lim tells him that she prefers when they were competing against each other and asks him to leave.

As Claire plays guitar and sings, she answers a call from Morgan, who asks if she wants to get mimosas. Claire points out that they don’t like each other, and Morgan asks if she has anything better to do, correctly guessing what Claire is currently doing. Upon questioning how she knows, Morgan explains that she found Claire’s dating profile after creating a fake male profile for “research,” and Claire agrees to meet her.

Mia Wuellner (Jennifer Birmingham Lee) says goodbye to Alex and Kellan Park (Ricky He), but Alex runs out after her and asks if she could stay longer and the three of them can hang out like old times. Mia turns the offer to stay the weekend down, but agrees to postpone her flight to later that evening.

Shaun finds Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) preparing to leave the hospital, and Glassman insists he wants to leave despite not being discharged. Shaun advises against it, but Glassman declares he’s tired of being around sick people. Shaun argues that postponing the chemo is a bad idea, but Glassman snaps at him and finishes packing. Shaun follows Glassman, telling him he’s coming with him.

Glassman asks Shaun if they’re friends, questioning if they’re only close because he doesn’t have any other friends and then asking why Lea doesn’t have any other friends besides Shaun. Lea calls Shaun, asking if he wants to have lunch with her, and Shaun invites Glassman as well. Glassman argues that he doesn’t want to go, and Shaun tells Lea he can’t come. Lea begs him to come, calling him her only friend, and Glassman agrees to go with them.

Morgan tells Claire her fake dating profile name, and Claire urges her to pace herself on the mimosas. Claire expresses her condolences for Tyler’s death, but Morgan downplays his impact on her. Claire offers to let her talk about it, but Morgan tells her she doesn’t want a shrink. Claire tells her she’s being a decent human being, and Morgan calls Claire “St. Claire.” As Claire gets upset, she gets a call from her mother, Breeze Browne (Sharon Leal).

As Alex and Mia watch Kellan in the batting cages, Alex asks Mia if she’s seeing anyone. She tells him she’s not, and he admits that his current relationship isn’t that serious. He asks if he’s ever thought about getting back together, but she isn’t excited about the idea.

Dunn approaches Andrews, and he asks if there’s any updates. She tells him that she’ll wait until the investigation is concluded and criticizes his dual role as both hospital president and chief of surgery. Andrews insists that he’s dedicated to both positions, before telling her that bureaucrats have no idea how a hospital is run.

Claire tells Morgan that she has to go, as her mom is getting evicted. Morgan insists on going with her, and Claire asks what’s really going on. Morgan admits that Tyler’s death was upsetting, and argues that she’s great with moms. Andrews rants to Allegra Aoki (Tamlyn Tomita) about Dunn’s insinuation that he can’t be both president and chief of surgery, and llegrai admits she has a point. He insists that changing things now will make him look weak, but she argues that it will show the ability to admit mistakes.

Lea shows Shaun and Glassman the vast options at her office’s cafeteria and Glassman asks if any of her coworkers will be joining them. She questions why he changed his mind about coming, and he asks if she’s always so suspicious.

As Claire and Morgan help pack up Breeze’s apartment, Claire finds evidence that someone else has been living there and asks who he is. Breeze denies that anyone else has been living there, and Claire questions why the money she gave her wasn’t enough to keep the apartment. After Breeze tells her she was late with the payments, Claire questions why she’s being evicted so quickly. Breeze confesses that her boyfriend beat her and she’s trying to get away from him.

While mini-golfing, Mia tries to ask Alex about his life and work, but Alex doesn’t share much. She gets frustrated, and tells him this is why they broke up. He argues that it wasn’t his fault, and she insists that their relationship was over long before her affair. She points out that he didn’t tell her about his decision to pursue medicine until he got into medical school, accusing him of keeping information on a need-to-know basis.

Morgan finds a bill identifying Breeze’s boyfriend as Carnell Hunter (Garfield Wilson) and suggests they visit him. Claire questions what they’re going to do, and Morgan insists they need to to tell him to leave Breeze alone. When Claire points out that her mom’s boyfriends are psychos, Morgan explains she had a stalker in med school and shows her the gun she has in her car. Morgan insists they need to send him a message, and that men are more likely to be visual learners.

Claire insists that Morgan with a gun is scarier than any of Breeze’s boyfriends, and Morgan asks why she is “St. Claire” with everyone but Breeze. She replies that Morgan doesn’t know Breeze, and Morgan replies that she knows that Breeze’s bipolar disorder isn’t her fault.

Melendez checks in on Lim, and tells her that he’s offended by the implication that he’s always competitive and accuses her of acting differently since they slept together. She sarcastically tells him to project more so the whole hospital can hear him, and he tells her that he’s done being nice to her.

Lea rants about Glassman’s distrust of her, and Shaun asks for her help to convince him to begin chemo on schedule. She questions how helpful she would be, and advises him to be supportive. He suggests that she doesn’t understand, and she tells him she’s sick of people assuming she doesn’t. Glassman comes over agreeing with her frustration, and Lea declares that they need to do something fun.

Kellan tries to break up Alex and Mia’s awkward silence, and declares he’ll be in the arcade when he is unsuccessful. Mia asks if he’s regretting asking her to stay, and Alex tells her he thinks they should get back together. She asks if he’s insane, and he tells her that he needs her back in his life. Mia tells him he’s exhausted after the hospital ordeal, but Alex tells her he loves her. She tells him she loves him too, but they should move on.

Morgan and Claire go into Carnell’s work and ask to speak to him. Carnell brushes them off, but Morgan demands he listen. Claire identifies Breeze as her mom and tells him that she never wants to see him again. Carnell is confused, and Morgan tells him how awful he is. He tells them that he would never hurt a woman, telling them that he asked Breeze to marry him.

Breeze tells Claire and Morgan that they had no right to meddle, and Claire questions her method of handling the proposal. Breeze admits that she doesn’t want to marry Carnell, and Claire advises her to tell him that she’s not ready. Breeze calls Carnell the sweetest man she’s ever met, and Claire questions why she’s trying to ghost him.

Dunn tells Andrews that she has findings to report and tells him that they found that Lim without consent dosed a non-patient, Melendez ignored a DNR request, and that video shows Shaun in the fetal position at one point. Andrews explains that Shaun is autistic, but Dunn tells him that she’s recommending all three for license suspension.

Lea takes Shaun and Glassman to a kart racing course and convinces them to race with her. Shaun insists he doesn’t want to, but Glassman accuses him of saying that solely because he doesn’t want him racing, declaring that he’s doing it. Shaun agrees as well and the three get into their respective karts. Once indicated, Lea and Glassman take off but Shaun drives slowly.

The three take several laps as Andrews confronts Melendez and Lim, Alex plays in the arcade with Kellan, Andrews talks to Aoki, and Claire and Morgan observe Breeze talk to Carnell from the window. Glassman looks sick as the race ends, and Shaun and Lea are concerned about him. Shaun asks about his symptoms, but Glassman declares that he’s fine as they leave the track.

Andrews apologizes to Dunn for the way he treated her, but defends Melendez and Lim’s commitment to do whatever it takes to help their patients. He argues that they should be applauded for doing their jobs, and Dunn sarcastically claps before telling him that she will still be reporting them to the board. Dunn promises the board leaves bureaucrats like her out of it, and Andrews promises to see her at the hearing.

Lim visits Melendez and declares she screwed up, admitting she has feelings for him. She tells him that her feelings scare her, but that she doesn’t want their night together to be their last. Melendez admits he feels the same way, but that it’s not a good idea to pursue a relationship when they are both under investigation. Lim suggests they just keep it a secret for now, and Melendez calls the idea interesting.

Claire thanks Morgan for going with her, and admits she was great today. She tells her that she’s there if she ever needs someone to talk to, and Morgan thanks her. Morgan declares it was a good day and offers to return the favor by having her meet her mom. Claire declares it a date, and they go their separate ways.

Glassman tells Shaun that he plans to speed up the chemo. Shaun suggests he listen to Blaize’s suggestion, but Glassman tells him he’ll find another doctor if Blaize doesn’t agree. Glassman declares he wants to have more days like today, and asks if Lea will ever see Shaun as more than a friend. Shaun tells him she said she wants to stay friends, but Glassman tells him he deserves to be happy.

Alex says goodbye to Mia and watches as she drives away. However, the car stops and drives back to him. Mia gets out of the car, and suggests they try to rekindle their relationship slowly and that she’ll return soon. Alex agrees and they kiss as Kellan smiles from the window. Lea is surprised that Shaun is home, and Shaun asks to try a beer. He sees another bottle on the table and Lea admits that it’s Jake Dahlen’s (Andres Joseph). She introduces Jake to Shaun, and tells him that they will be out late at a concert.

Shaun sits on the couch and stares sadly at Jake’s beer as Alex and Kellan watch a movie together. Lim is released from the hospital and Melendez picks her up in his car. Claire looks through the dating app and laughs upon finding Morgan’s fake profile. Morgan does yoga and Andrews sits in his office while Shaun continues staring at the bottle.
