As Alice (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Dylan (Sebastian Zurita) continue to get closer in their relationship, June (Sigourney Weaver) is dying and Candy (Frankie Adams) and the “Flowers” take care of her in the absence of Twig (Leah Purcell). Candy advises June to let everyone know about her ailment rather than hide it. However, June stands firm on remaining quiet.

Finally, Alice begins to open up about her mother Agnes (Tilda Cobham-Hervey) to Dylan…explaining how her mother tried to keep Clem’s (Charlie Vickers) abuse a secret. Dylan is appalled at how Agnes tried to hide everything rather than help her and Alice get away from Clem. Later after a shower, Alice finally takes off the necklace that June gave her and puts it in the drawer.

Twig finally arrives in Agnes Bluff and begins her search for Alice. She puts up flyers everywhere she can, catching the attention of a local named Mary (Tricia Morton-Thomas). Taking an interest, Mary invites Twig to join her at a table where Twig begins to talk a little more about her life. Having a one-night stand with an aboriginal man, Twig became pregnant and ended up having two children with him. When that relationship went south, Twig then found herself in an abusive relationship with a white man that had Twig’s children taken away from her for good. Even though Twig tried to get custody again, she was never able to.

With the group doing fire training, Alice learns of a ball going on that night. As Lulu (Vivienne Awosoga) and Aiden (Nelson Baker) try to convince her to come, Dylan tries to play it down and convince Alice that they don’t need to go. However, when Alice later tries to surprise Dylan with a sexy outfit for the party, he rebuffs her and puts down her choice of attire. Ultimately, Alice tells Lulu she has a migraine and ends up missing out on the fun.

Meanwhile, Candy tries to hold down the fort at Thornfield. As she catches June trying to conduct business and failing to do so, she convinces June to take some pain medicine. Later, June asks Candy to help her write a letter and send it to a woman named Roberta (Brielle Flynn) Baron….the “robber baron” that June fell in love with. June hopes to write to Roberta and apologize for not keeping in touch

The next day Alice heads into work and Dylan apologizes to her for his behavior the night before. He gives Alice a necklace to wear in place of the one she took off before heading into work. From her truck, Alice notices that Twig has arrived at her job and she tries to hide from her. Continuing to put up flyers, Twig places one strategically where the tours start and leaves…Alice removing the flyer as soon as Twig is gone. On the way back to Agnes Bluff, Twig sees Mary and her family on the side of the road. She pulls up and learns that the family was going to head into the bush for the night. Twig offers Mary and family a ride to their destination…Mary convincing Twig to stay with them in the bush for the night.

After an almost run-in with Twig, Alice finds Lulu and tells her that she wants to hang out and grab a beer. Alice later arrives to Dylan’s place and finds it empty. With no boyfriend in sight, Alice grabs Pip and they head back to her house for the night. Any calls to Dylan seem to go to voicemail.

In the bush Twig bonds with the aboriginals and thinks about her children. This causes an emotional response from Twig as she mourns the loss of watching them grow up. Even more determined to not let that happen again, Twig sets off the next morning to continue her search of Alice.

Heading into work after no word, Alice is greeted by Dylan where he apologizes for not answering his phone. After complete radio silence for a night, Dylan suggests that they go for a bush walk after work today. Happy with the plan, Alice then takes a moment to call Twig’s phone and let her know that she wants to be left alone until she is ready to talk. But until then, she is happy with a job and a new relationship.

However, Dylan ends up having to cancel their walk as he is working late. Alice promises to have dinner ready when he does come home. She takes Pip for a walk and is surprised to see Dylan home upon her return. While she is happy to see him, Dylan accuses her of being out with another man and begins to get physically abusive.

While Candy wrote the letter for June, she returns home with bad news for the matriarch of Thornfield: Roberta is dead. June begins to cry and tearfully tells Candy more about Roberta and the demise of their relationship. One time by the river, her and Roberta encountered three dangerous men. As June made sure that Roberta escaped, June was raped and knocked unconscious by the men. June never told the police what happened and avoided Roberta’s calls when she found out she was pregnant with Clem. But as June raised Clem, it was Twig entering their lives that saved June.

The next morning, Alice finds a remorseful Dylan in his living room. He pleads with Alice not to leave him, which she agrees to. In turn, Dylan then asks Alice to not set him off the way that she does.

With June refusing her pain meds, she begins to make plans for her funeral. Candy doesn’t want her to give up, but June explains that Candy can watch over Thornfield. Overwhelmed by June’s words, Candy calls Twig and tells her to come home to Thornfield. June is dying and Candy cannot do this alone anymore. Twig agrees to return home.

Fire training starts and Dylan is called away, leaving Alice to do her training with Aiden. As she works on lighting the controlled fires, Alice is brought back to memories of her past with Clem and realizes just how much Dylan is like her father. Having a mild panic attack, Aiden calms her down and later gives her a hug back at the facility….Dylan sees this and drives off in anger.

Alice arrives at Dylan’s place later and tries to tell him about the training, but he is having none of it. He begins to become belligerent and more physical, beating Alice to the ground and choking her. The moment he lets up, Alice goes to grab the lamp and hits Dylan with it….knocking him to the ground. Rather than stay, Alice leaves Dylan’s house with Pip in tow and heads back to her house.

Upon arriving home, Alice immediately runs inside and locks all the doors and shutters the curtains. While waiting for Dylan, Alice sees an apparition of her mother Agnes….pleading with her to let Dylan in before he gets angrier. Not heeding her mother’s words, Alice crouches down in her kitchen as Dylan begins to bang on her door and windows. Over the screams of Dylan, Alice lets out one loud scream. On Alice’s phone, a voicemail from Twig waits for her. While Twig wants to respect her need to be left alone, there is so much they need to talk about in person.
