The Loyal Pin – Episode 12

The episode picks up with Auntie Padmika (Charm Osthanond) strolling around the palace grounds angrily, recalling what she saw transpire between Pin and Anil. We see Padmika sitting next to Princess Anil (Rebecca Patricia Armstrong) at the banquet and she notices the ring on Anil’s finger, along with the lipstick imprint on her hand. She looks to Lady Pin (Sarocha Chankimha) and realizes that the lipstick is the same color as what Pin is wearing. Padmika seethes.

It then flashes back to the banquet as Lady Pin and Anil walk together with Anil’s arm around Pin’s. Pin comments that Anil’s hands are so pretty, and so is the ring. She asks Anil who gave her the ring. Anil teases that it is from “perhaps someone around here.” Pin teases back that she thought the ring was from Anil’s fiancé.  The two stop walking and stare lovingly into each other’s eyes. Anil says that person is more than her fiancé, she is also her best friend, she is her everything and, most importantly, she owns both her body and soul. Lady Pin caresses Anil’s hand sweetly and as she bends down and kisses Anil’s hand, Anil leans up and kisses Pin’s forehead.  They share a laugh. They go back and forth trying to kiss each other playfully.  However, unbeknownst to them, Padmika is watching them and sees their romantic 

Back in the present Padmika sits at a table in the garden and Koi brings her some food. She asks Koi (Anna Benedic) to tell Prik to come and meet her in the Parlor.   

Now in the Parlor, Padmika sits and looks through different fabrics. Prik (Orntara Poonsak) enters and then sits down and awaits to see why Padmika has requested her. A smiling Padmika says that she would like Prik’s help with some of them for Princess Anil. Prik asks her what the occasion is so that she can make the best decision. She tells her it’s a gift in return for giving Lady Pin such a precious engagement ring. Prik looks surprised. Padmika tells her not to be, as she already knew. Prik asks if Lady Pin told her. Padmika asks if Prik means if Lady Pin told her that she and Anil are seeing each other and Prik confirms. Now Padmika is no longer smiling – she is angry. She says it’s just as she thought. Prik looks shocked. She tells Padmika she thought that she already knew. Padmika says she was only certain about the ring. As for the relationship, she only was certain when Prik answered her. Prik tries to backtrack and say she didn’t mean it like that – she meant it as they are seeing each other as companions. Padmika yells at Prik to stop lying and wonders does Prik think she is a fool! Prik begins to cry and tell Padmika she would never think of her that way. Padmika instructs Prik to tell her how it happened and to tell her everything.

We next see a crying Prik as she leaves the Parlor and wonders how she is going to tell or what she should tell Anil. She berates herself for a few minutes and then tries to pull herself together. Then, she starts to mentally scold herself again. She is conflicted and goes back to saying that Lady Pin will be in trouble so she will tell them after all. She continues to stand outside and yells at herself that she is dead!

In the Pine Palace, Princess Anil sits and draws a sketch of Lady Pin. Prik approaches with a cup of jasmine tea and sets it down on the table near Anil then sits on the floor beside her. Anil goes to ask Prik something and Prik interjects yelling about how she didn’t say anything at all! Anil laughs and says she hasn’t said anything yet to Prik. A beaming Anil looks at her drawing and asks Prik between the real Lady Pin and her drawing of Lady Pin, which one is prettier. Prik tells her the real Lady Pin. Anil sweetly tells her she thinks so, too. Prik attempts to talk to Anil about what happened but can’t go through with it. So, she tells Anil she just wanted to say that her drawing of Lady Pin is beautiful. Anil tells Prik that Lady Pin is her happiness, and that without her, her life would have been so miserable. 

Sitting at the dining room table Lady Pin asks Koi for more food. Padmika looks over at Lady Pin forlornly.  Padmika doesn’t eat and just sets down her silverware. Pin comments to her asking if Padmika doesn’t feel well as she hardly ate.  Padmika says she is full. Padmika instructs Pin when she is done eating to come to her room as there is something she must talk to her about. 

Lady Pin knocks on Padmika’s bedroom door and meekly enters. Padmika instructs Pin to sit down. After doing so Pin asks Padmika why she wanted to see her.  For a moment Padmika just stands seemingly stuck in turmoil. Then, she turns around and asks Pin why she must wish for someone who is out of Pin’s reach, and why did Pin not restrain herself…A bewildered Pin asks Padmika what she is talking about. Padmika crying says that it’s clear what she is talking about and asks Pin how long she is going to keep acting innocent. She argues to Pin that all this time Pin has seen her as a fool who is oblivious to everything. She goes on and angrily asks if she has not taught Pin who the Princess is and who they are. Pin says to please forgive her. But Padmika goes on and says Pin never listened, and Pin let herself fall deeply into such an intimate relationship. Pin is sobbing. Padmika admonishes her by saying, “How dare you?! Did I not teach you well enough?!” Pin crying says that Padmika didn’t do anything wrong as it is her fault. She says to Padmika that she could not restrain herself as she is foolishly enamored with Princess Anil. Pin goes on to say that Padmika should not blame herself or shed tears for a sinful niece like Pin. Padmika tells her how could she not, she has sacrificed so much time and dedication to raising Pin so she would grow up elegantly as a lady should. A lady with moral conscience and gratitude. Instead Pin chose to accept the ring from Princess Anil and even wore it on her ring finger despite knowing the true meaning of it. She goes on to say that much worse, Pin even gave Anil a ring to express her possession of Anil. Pin and Padmika continue to sob. Pin says that she is sorry, and that she was a fool to believe that giving a ring to Anil, she would eventually become Pin’s one day. Padmika spits at Pin that no matter how sorry Pin is, it will never undo what she has done. Padmika says that it’s time for her to undo everything and that Pin must be engaged.

The episode cuts to Lady Pin sadly laying on her bed holding Sara bunny. Prik knocks at the door. Prik enters the bedroom and then goes to sit near Pin. She apologizes to Pin. She says that it is her fault, and that Padmika kept pressing her about it. Prik begins to have tears streaming down her eyes. She says that she slipped up and told Padmika everything. Pin tells Prik that it’s not her fault, Padmika already knew and she only needed Prik to assure herself. She tells Prik it was Pin herself who was reckless. A flashback to Padmika and Pin’s conversation where Padmika tells Pin that she must marry Khun Kuea. Pin continues to cry and she tells Padmika no, why him? Padmika wonders why not as he’s her best friend’s son and a close friend of Prince Arnon. He’s good looking, well educated and comes from a noble family. He is perfectly suitable for Pin more than anyone else. Pin retorts that she doesn’t love him! Padmika asks Pin if the person she loves someone Pin can ever wish for? Has Pin forgotten who the Princess is? Not to mention that Anil is a lady just like Pin. She yells that Khun Kuea might be just a prince’s son, but he is the same rank as Pin. Padmika commands from that day forward, Pin is no longer to take care of the food for Princess Anil, she will have Koi do it instead. And don’t think about spending the night with Princess Anil anymore, from now on the Pine Palace is forbidden for Pin! A crushed Pin falls to her knees and begs Padmika saying that if she could not see Princess Anil again, she will surely die. Pin bows down close to the floor and proceeds to sob uncontrollably. Padmika charged by anger tells her then so be it! I would also like to see if Pin will stop breathing because of it!

Back in the present in her room crying profusely on her bed clutching Sasa bunny, Pin says that she will surely die. Prik crying uncontrollably too asks if she should tell Princess Anil, as she may be able to help Pin. She says not to as she doesn’t want to worry Anil. Prik cries and apologizes. She leans over Lady Pin in the bed and tries to comfort her.

The next day Pin sits on her bed with Sasa and thinks back to Padmika’s words about saying that the Pine Palace was now forbidden for Pin.  Lady Pin gets up off of the bed and opens her bedroom doors. She tries to sneak out and just when she thinks she has gotten away, Padmika catches her! She asks what Pin is doing and Pin lies saying she was going to prepare some snacks for Padmika. Padmika tells her there is no need as Pin is not going anywhere. She isn’t allowed out of the Lotus Palace without her permission. 

At the Pine Palace Princess Anil sits at her dining room table smiling and waiting for her meal. Koi brings her food in and Prik sets it on the table. She looks for Lady Pin and asks where she is. Koi tells her that Lady Pin did not come to the kitchen. Anil asks if she has gone out anywhere and Koi responds that she has not, she only has stayed at the Lotus Palace. Anil asks Prik why Lady Pin didn’t come and see her and Prik deflects by saying it’s probably because Pin is busy with work. Anil is confused and ponders.

Later on Prik and Koi place food on Anil’s dining table. Anil enters and asks if Lady Pin is not coming to see her again. Koi confirms. Anil is worried.

Anil now walks back and forth in her living room area looking out the windows trying to see Lady Pin. Anil eventually comes and sits down on her couch. Prik suggests maybe they should go take a drive around the city. Anil says no. Lady Pin has been too quiet, it is unusual. Prik suggests that Pin could be busy with kitchen chores. Anil says that she will go and see her then. As Anil stalks over to the Lotus Palace concerned with Prik trailing behind her, she encounters Pia and other servants. Anil asks if Lady Pin is in the kitchen and Pia (Sutthatip Wutichaipradit) says no, she has not come to the kitchen. They then take their leave when Anil comments that there must be something wrong as Lady Pin has never disappeared like this. Prik says maybe Pin is just busy with her work, her translation work. Anil says no, if that was true then Pin would always tell her beforehand. Anil orders Prik to go to the palace and find out what’s happened with Lady Pin. Anil says if she goes by herself, Padmika may be suspicious of her. She may turn her attention to Anil and Pin.

Prik goes over to the Lotus Palace and stands in the entryway. She wonders what she should do since she already knows what’s going on. As she argues with herself, Padmika catches her and asks her what she needs. Prik tells her that the Princess was wondering why Pin did not come to the Pine Palace today. Prik asks her if she should tell Princess Anil honestly what has happened. Padmika instructs her not to, and to tell Princess Anil that Pin had some errands to do for Padmika. Prik walks back to see Princess Anil.

At the Pine Palace we see Princess Anil waiting right at the doorway for Prik. Prik recounts what Padmika told her about the errands. Anil remarks that is unusual. But Prik counters that it is not unusual, as there have been days before when Pin did not come and see her. Anil says that she will wait a few more days.

Lady Pin sits at a table in the palace grounds carving fruit. Padmika sits across from her making flower arrangements. She looks over at a distracted Pin. Suddenly Pin cuts herself on the carving knife! Padmika goes to check on her and Pin tells her not to worry, that she is fine.

Coming down the stairs at the Pine Palace, Anil tells Prik that it has been several days and Lady Pin still has not come to see her. Anil says that she is worried and going to see Lady Pin. Prik tries to dissuade her and says she will go and check on Anil’s behalf. But Anil says no, she wants to do it herself. Prik tries to say Padmika might be suspicious if Anil goes over and Anil says that she doesn’t care. 

Anil walks with purpose over to the Lotus Palace. Before she can enter, Padmika stops her and asks why she has come. Anil states that she is there to see Lady Pin. Padmika counters asking if it is an urgent matter. Anil tells her that she needs some assistance with translation of a novel. Padmika says that Anil studied abroad, there should be nothing that Anil cannot translate. Anil responds by saying there are some parts that she is not quite certain about. Padmika says that Lady Pin is busy helping her with chores. Anil asks, how about in the afternoon? Padmika replies that Lady Pin is busy going on an errand for her with Khun Kuea. She says that Lady Pin is busy today and that Anil should go back to the Pine Palace. Padmika promises to tell Pin that Anil came by, and then she walks back into the palace. Anil stands there with Prik stunned. From up in her room, we see Lady Pin watching the interaction that transpired. A tear falls down Pin’s eye and she says outlaid that she misses Anil so much. 

At the dining room table Pin plays with her food and doesn’t really eat. Padmika questions if Pin is full and how come she didn’t eat much. Pin excuses herself and as she goes to leave Padmika tells her she has an errand she needs Pin to do for her that afternoon. She wants Pin to go choose the fabric she wants to give Khun Kuea’s mother as a gift. She further tells Pin to go and shower and get ready, as Khun Kuea is coming to pick Pin up in the afternoon. 

Outside of the Lotus Palace, Khun Kuea (Chatchawit Techarukpong) waits against his car for Lady Pin. Lady Pin and Padmika exit from the Palace to greet him. Khun Kuea opens the car door for Pin and the two drive off.

At the market, Pin and Khun Kuea go to the fabric shop. Khun Kuea asks Pin if she likes any fabrics as he will buy it for her. She says no, just let’s buy the gift for his mother. Deeper into the shop they look further at the fabric. From within the glass case, Pin picks a fabric and says she has selected the fabric for his mother. He says he will go and settle the payment, and she should have a look around while waiting. As Lady Pin looks around the shop, she is suddenly grabbed. Anil pushes Pin against one of the walls of the store. When Pin recognizes Anil, she smiles and they hug each other tightly and happily. They both say how much they miss each other. Anil asks Pin what happened, why did she just disappear. Pin tells her she will talk about it, but not there, they have to leave. They sneak out of the shop into the busy streets and try to hide from Khun Kuea who is searching for Pin. 

Away in the streets, Pin has explained everything to Anil who comments that’s why Prik has been uneasy lately. She was trying to hide what happened from Anil. Pin tells her not to blame Prik. Anil says she knows Prik didn’t do anything wrong, as it is her fault for being reckless when portraying her love for Pin. Pin tells Anil not to blame herself, and that sooner or later people were bound to find out about their relationship one day. Just then Khun Kuea comes walking nearby and Anil and Pin hide away in a car to not get caught. As Khun Kuea approaches the car, suddenly it starts to rain and thunderstorm.  He reluctantly walks away to get out of the rain. Pin asks Anil what they should do about their relationship. Anil tells her not to worry, she will find a ay for them. Pin affirms that she does not wish to belong to anyone but Anil. Anil touches Pin’s cheek and says she will never give Pin to anyone else, Pin is hers and hers alone. Pin and Anil stay close in the car and begin to kiss both languidly and heatedly. They kiss and caress one another as the rain pours down.Pin walks trepidatiously into the Lotus Palace after her afternoon out. She looks to see if Padmika will catch her again. Only this time as she gets closer into the palace, she is actually stopped by Koi, who asks if she would like something to eat and Pin says yes.

Pin opens the doors to her bedroom and as soon as she walks in she finds Padmika sitting there. Padmika stands and asks Pin why she has to be so stubborn, does she not love or respect Padmika anymore? Pin says of course not. Padmika asks then why must Pin disobey her and secretly meet with the Princess? Padmika tells Pin that she is now grounded to only stay in her room unless Padmika tells her. 

At night Pin sits alone on her bed holding Sasa bunny. There is a sudden noise coming from the window and Anil climbs into Pin’s bedroom. Pin asks why Anil did such a dangerous thing, and Anil says she misses Pin, and that she heard Pin was grounded. Anil says she is worried sick about Pin. Pin says yes, she is not allowed to leave her room. Anil tells her she doesn’t have to leave the room, Anil will come to her. They hug tightly. From outside of the palace, Padmika watches and sees them together.

The next day Pin sits melancholy on her bed with Sasa bunny. The door to her room opens and Koi comes in saying that Padmika has asked her to open Pin’s door and let her come down for breakfast. Pin asks if she is allowed to leave her room and Koi says yes. Pin asks where Padmika is and Koi explains Padmika has been out since the morning. 

Khun Kuea drives up to the palace in his car and he opens the car door for Padmika. She thanks him and says she will soon send good news. She enters the palace and encounters Lady Pin. Pin asks where she has been and Padmika tells her she was at Khun Kuea’s house. Pin wants to know if there is a problem, and Padmika says she was just talking about Pin’s engagement. Padmika explains that she arrange Pin’s engagement and marriage to Khun Kuea’s as soon as possible. She asks why such a hurry and Padmika says that it is the only way to make her give up on the Princess. Pin is adamant saying she does not want to marry him and she dies not love him. Padmika says she is not looking for Pin’s permission. She walks away from Pin.

In the Parlor at the front palace, Prince Anan (Kanin Stanley) sits with Princess Alisa having tea. Pia enters and tells them that Princess Padmika would like to speak with Princess Alisa. Princess Alisa (Alicia Hiranprueck) gives permission for Padmika to come. She then tells Anan that it is unusual as Padmika has never come to visit her on the weekend. Padmika then enters with Lady Pin and Princess Alisa asks them both to sit down. She then inquires if Padmika is there to see her for an urgent matter. Padmika says it is not urgent, but Khun Kuea would like to propose engagement to Lady Pin. Padmika says the date is rather quick, and it might not be appropriate as they are busy making preparations for the King’s birthday party during this time. Princess Alissa tells her as long as it’s not the same day and time as the party, it will be fine. 

Outside Prik is talking to Pia and tells her that Lady Pin is getting engaged. Pia shrieks and Prik tells her to be quiet. Prik says Pin will be engaged to Khun Kuea and Padmika is discussing it currently with Princess Alisa. Pia gets up and runs off. 

Pia goes to Anil and tells her that they are discussing Pin’s engagement at the front palace right now and Anil must hurry. 

Princess Alisa asks when the engagement will be and Padmika tells her next week, and then the marriage will soon follow after. Anil walks swiftly into the room and asks Padmika why there is such a hurry, Pin and Khun Kuea haven’t even gone on a date. Princess Alisa says that isn’t true, Khun Kuea has been coming to and from the Lotus Palace for some time now. Anil tells her that’s not a date, that’s Khun Kuea attempting to please his own satisfaction. He only adores Pin’s pretty face and her respectable family name. She says this would make Lady Pin look like a product that any man could select to satisfy himself. Princess Alisa chastises Anil. Prince Anan steps in and says that Anin is possibly more familiar with Western customs where people take time to learn about each other before marriage. He says most importantly, it must be agreeable on both sides. Princess Alisa says to leave the Western customs to Westerners, for them, if a man and woman are suitable for each other in terms of looks, wealth, and family name, why waste time learning about each other? Love will develop after marriage. Anil counters what if he doesn’t, what will happen to her life when she is miserable? Anil says to Padmika what Lady Pin feels for Khun Kuea is like poorly woven fabric. Her feelings for him are plain and empty. And now Padmika is trying to dye that fabric with a color she prefers. Padmika says her opinion is that the feelings Khun Kuea has for Pin is like fine and elegant silk with an expensive value. Perfect for Lady Pin. Anil states back asking if Padmika can see the fabric which represents her feelings for Pin? Anil looks over at Pin who is crying and shaking her head at Anil. Princess Alisa is upset and confused. Anil looks at Padmika again and says her feelings for Pin are like fabric woven from golden and silver thread with exceptionally delicate and exquisite design. Anil begins to cry. She says she has spent more than half of her life weaving it faithfully and untiringly. Yet Padmika is about to tear that fabric into pieces and throw it on the floor and stomp it to pieces with her own feet. Pin tells Anil to please say no more. Anil softly shakes her head. Princess Alisa asks Anil what she means. Anil looks at Pin again and shakes her head. Anil then glances over to her mother and says what she means is that the person who deserves to be with Lady Pin is her, and not Khun Kuea. Princess Alisa sits shocked and unbelieving of what has just been said. The episode ends.
