Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Alternative Pop!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Nirvana, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Lover My Love.” What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) My upcoming album is called Portraits and each song is a portrait of someone in my life or a public figure.  “Lover My Love” is a deeply personal song about my wife Lauren! There’s a million songs about young love, but this song is about marriage and being by each other’s side through the highs and lows. We’ve had so many deep valleys and the highest highs together and this song celebrates standing by each other’s side no matter what. At one point in the second verse I talk about not having sex anymore and rehab. It’s deeply raw, real and a very personal experience so I think fans are connecting to the message of a deeper love.

Q) How does the video play into the message of the song?

A) Evan, the director, and I wrote this together and we wanted it to be very reflective of the song but also artistic. I fight with Lauren’s character, there’s drinking and at one point I jump off a building. As the song continues I reverse up the building and remember the good times with Lauren in our marriage. Lauren actually makes a cameo playing one of the girls seducing me. The “B” necklace that causes the reverse stands for our two kids we have together Bowie and Berlin. Making this video was extremely therapeutic and the jumping off the building scene was hard to do emotionally.

Q) What did you take away from working with One Republic that you took with you for creating this album Portraits?

A) Not being afraid to meet somewhere in the middle of art and pop. I love artsy alternative music that leans to the left, but I think there’s an amazing sweet spot in the middle.

Q) Where does the name for the album stem from? What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Each song is a portrait of someone in my life. My process is let inspiration come to you. I’ve written a lot of songs that have done big things in the drive-thru line! One song in particular came in a long line at El Polo Loco. Another one in In-N-Out. I’ve also written several songs in the shower or long car ride. Other times I have to really work for it. I wake up and write and record every single day, it’s something I love to do every day.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I produce all my music 100%. I played every instrument on almost every song on the album. There’s a few on the album that are co-produced like “Hero” and “Portrait of Home” with Dave Bassett who’s an amazing producer and Mikal Blue who co-produced “Lover My Love” with me. On “Lover,” I play all the instruments, drums, bass, keys, guitars and wrote it 100%.

Q) What songs off your album Portraits are you looking forward to performing live?

A) My favorite song is “Portrait Of Home” it’s so anthemic and has an Of Monsters & Men, Lumineers vibe.  “Daughter” is about my two girls and I cry every time I play it. Even though it’s a sweet song, I can’t get though it without crying.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Tim Myers performance?

A) Lots of energy. I’m running around and it’s a big rock show, but also at moments really stripped down and personal, a lot of storytelling. It’s a rollercoaster and a lot of fun!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I’ll never forget playing Coachella and the sea of people. It was breathtaking and an honor to share the stage with all the insane artists that year like Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Madonna.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, or Paul Simon.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m currently listening to Matt & Kim, Sleigh Bells, “Busy Earnin” by Jungle, Banks. I love alternative music. It’s all I listen to.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s an amazing way to personally connect with people and share.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you so much for supporting and listening to my music! I appreciate you beyond words.
