Tonee Marino – Mood
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) I would describe my sound as unique, uplifting, inspirational and emotional.
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) Some of my biggest music influences would start off with my #1 of all time being Michael Jackson followed by Drake, Post Malone, Bruno Mars and Chris Brown.
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Mood.”
A) I wrote this song with my thought process being on the topic of wanting to make the listener happy and to disregard any shade or negativity that people throw at them.
Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) I think that people can really connect to the vibe of the song, and the thought of feeling like you’re on top of the world and embracing that feeling.
Q) How will the video for the track play into the message behind it?
A) I currently do not have a video for this song, but you should check out my latest video for my song “Lady’s Man,” which I made the beat for, wrote the lyrics and co-engineered.
Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) Sometimes I find a beat or create one on my own and I like to go off of the vibe of the beat and other times I’ll have an idea in my head that I’ll write down and try to create around that. I love making songs that can be hype and happy or sad and relatable while trying to put inspirational messages throughout all of my songs.
Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) I am 100% involved with the creation of my songs. I write the lyrics, produce the beats for some songs and co-engineer them in the studio.
Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?
A) I’m not 100% when, but I will be dropping a project in the near future. As of now I’m dropping a new single every month of the year.
Q) What can fans expect from a live Tonee Marino performance?
A) One word to describe: it’s just gonna be lit – the whole show. Fans can expect a lot of energy and I love to connect and interact with people, so they will be hyped up at all times.
Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
A) I don’t have a specific venue that’s my favorite place to perform, but New York City is definitely my favorite place. The energy that people give off and the connection you can build with people through the music is the best feeling in the world. But I love to perform anywhere where there’s a big stage and a huge crowd.
Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) I would love to collab with Drake, Lil Uzi, Post Malone, Young Thug, Tory Lanez, Lil Skies and many more.
Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) I’m currently listening to Lil Uzi Vert’s new album Eternal Atake a lot. I love his style and he’s a big pioneer in the rap game.
Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?
A) It’s always important to connect with fans and with social media you can do it directly instead of just through the music. There is so much content being put out now with social media and you always have to be on top of your game to keep fans coming back for more.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) I would like to say that I have the upmost love and appreciation for all of you. And for you who are chasing a dream or goal, stay on it and don’t let anyone’s words or comments knock you off your path.
