Top 3 Moments – 3/31 – 4/5
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy, and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments, so keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: 9-1-1, “Fight or Flight” – She fought like hell!
The domestic violence story that we’ve been following since Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) came to town finally came to a horrific close. Her abusive husband, Doug (Brian Hallisay), successfully kidnapped her and was holding her hostage. I’m not quite sure how he thought his plan was going to work out, but Maddie wasn’t going to let him find out. After escaping the cabin Maddie fought for her life. Maddie killed Doug in the end. This scene contrasted with the scene from the past was so well-done. We saw how far Maddie has actually made it in her journey to separate herself from someone who wasn’t willing to let her go. Jennifer Love Hewitt did her character justice and her performance was one of my favorites on television this week.
Comedy: Splitting Up Together, “Go Out the Lights” – Lisa sings her feelings.
When a blackout sends everyone to one house, Lisa (Monica Barbaro) decides to hide out in the car outside. After Martin (Oliver Hudson) convinces her to come back inside, she gets pushed into singing a song for everyone. It turns out the song was really meant for one person– Martin. First, I’d like to mention how beautiful Monica Barbaro’s voice is and a simple song and she captured the moment wholly. This moment was the stand out of the night because of how easily Lisa was able to get her words out to explain how she felt about her relationship with Martin. She had struggled to say everything she needed to in the car earlier, but given the opportunity to have the floor she was finally able to reveal her truth.
Sci-fi/Fantasy: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, “Chapter Fourteen: Lupercalia” – Roz and Harvey share their first kiss.
Roz (Jaz Sinclair) has been having a premonition about her and Harvey (Ross Lynch) sharing a kiss since the first episode of this season, so you would think that would be how their first one happened. However, it happened in an even nicer way. At the end of the dance the two sat on a bench and discussed Rosalind’s visions and why she mentioned she had saw them kiss before. It was a calm and nice moment between the two before hopping back into the chaos of what Lupercalia was causing to happen with everyone else. I like this pairing and it was so sweet to see Roz and Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) discuss the situation before anybody made any moves. I don’t know if this will be a permanent pairing, but for now I think it’s super adorable and they seem to be good for each other. I’m definitely ready to see where this relationship goes throughout the rest of Part 2.
