Top 3 Moments – 4/14 – 4/19
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy, and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments, so keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: Killing Eve, “Nice and Neat” – Nothing can keep Villanelle down.
Even when Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is at her lowest, she is still the strongest in the room. When the man (Julian Barratt) she’s tricked into taking care of her turns out to be anything but friendly, Villanelle tries to escape. Even with a huge cut in her side (one that is definitely infected by this point), Villanelle manages to kill the man trying to hold her hostage before she escapes. It’s interesting to watch this character and know that she is a criminal, but you still want to root for her. She is completely fearless even in her most vulnerable state. The fight scene from start to finish was flawless. Seeing the direction Comer chose to take with that character in those moments was wonderful to watch. We got to see Villanelle go through so many range of emotions, but she still came out of it all in the end. With a new villain in the mix, I can’t wait to see more moments like this from this badass babe.
Comedy: The Last O.G., “A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays” – A new but old Shay.
Shay’s (Tiffany Haddish) realization of how much she’s actually changed over the years was a great way to end this week’s episode. I liked it so much because throughout the episode there were moments when you could see that had her friend not been present she would have second guessed her behaviors. I really enjoyed getting to see Shay realize that even though she’s moved into a world where her previous behaviors may not have been so “acceptable,” she still liked being able to be wild and free. The old Shay may have stolen that couch without question. Even though she doesn’t have to step back into those extremes, she can still go out with the girls and let the work mode go for a little while.
Sci-fi/Fantasy: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, “Séance and Sensibility” – Bollywood!
This series is the most fun show to watch out of all the DC programs on The CW! There is always something wild and crazy going on. At this point, nothing can be too ridiculous for the Legends and this week took us into a Jane Austen (Jenna Rosenow) world that gave us a Bollywood-esque dance sequence with Zari (Tala Ashe) and the Hindu god of love. I had been anticipating this scene and it was just as fun to watch as I thought it would be. The set was gorgeous and the dancing was great! It’s always so wonderful to see the different characters on Legends step into a new world and try out something that they haven’t before. Plus, the costume department on this show does an amazing job at setting the tone for whichever time period or fantasy world they are put in. Huge kudos to all involved in making that entire moment happen!
