Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments, so keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!

Drama: Chicago Med, “Can’t Unring That Bell” – Connor has had enough.

After trying to figure out who reported him, Connor (Colin Donnell) comes to the conclusion that Ava (Norma Kuhling) must have had something to do with it. I have been suspicious of Ava since she stepped foot on the show. Everything is finally starting to come together for Connor and it is glorious. I shouldn’t be so happy about the downfall of another relationship of his, but I knew Ava was being manipulative throughout this whole process. I’m interested to see what she does next, but this was definitely the tipping point for Connor.

Comedy: Boomerang, “Pilot”– Being young, gifted and black is cool, but it’s exhausting.

Bryson (Tequan Richmond) pitches a campaign idea to Crystal (Brittany Inge) after watching the one for a drink called Stay Awake fail. It brought back some nostalgia from the movie Boomerang (1992) with all the tenacity for a great revamp. At this moment I knew that I was going to like where this show was headed. These two characters are only a small part of the overall ensemble, but I’m definitely excited to see how they develop with the status of the jobs they have as young black executives. The series is off to a great start and having powerful moments like these will definitely help the show stay interesting.

Sci-fi/Fantasy: Deadly Class, “Saudade” – Maria vs. Chico

Maria (María Gabriela de Faría) killing Chico (Michel Duval) with her bladed fan was the highlight of a wacky episode. She has finally faced one demon and gotten out of a situation that was weighing her down. Chico has been a clutch since the start so his downfall was welcomed. The entire scene of watching the group try to defeat Chico and him finally being defeated by Maria was excellently done. The slow motion and the angles of the camera did the scene justice. Maria is one of my favorite characters on the show so being able to see her overcome this harmful part of her life made me happy. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects her afterwards, but after watching her thus far I think she’ll be able to survive through it.
