Top 3 TV Moments – February 23 – February 29
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: The Bold Type, “To Peg or Not To Peg” – Take back the power!
Everybody was feeling a little out of their element this week on The Bold Type. I loved the moment where we saw all the ladies going through their own individual issues of insecurity and then come together to discuss it with each other. Jane’s (Katie Stevens) yeast infection freaked her out, but Kat (Aisha Dee) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) were quick to help because they’ve been through it before – realizing that the things they talked about should be normalized more was such an empowering conversation to have. It’s amazing to see how this show is so open about their discussions when it comes to women yet they are still exploring ways for these women to open up about subjects that are still not normalized in the world. I truly appreciated this episode and how well it was crafted together.
Comedy/Reality TV: Indebted, “Everybody’s talking about hot goss” – Hot goss! Good or bad?
Joanna (Jessy Hodges)’s girlfriend gets outed for being involved in “a sex cult” after trying to get Joanna’s family to stop discussing “hot goss.” At this moment I wondered – Is gossiping really that bad? Sometimes telling some information that you get is okay, especially if people need to know because it could reveal important information like it did for Joanna. But let’s be honest, everybody loves a little gossip. Like they said on the show, what do you talk about without hot goss?
Sci-fi/Fantasy: The Magicians, “Garden Variety Homicide” – Freaky Friday!
Margo (Summer Bishil) and Eliot (Hale Appleman) got into some Freaky Friday fun. They had the chance to learn more about the other, especially when it came to Margo (in Eliot’s body) having to deal with The Dark King (Sean Maguire). It was great watching the actors gather the mannerisms of the characters even until that very last scene. The body-swapping brought some clarity on personal issues that they were going through, making their decisions more understandable.
