Top 3 TV Moments – February 9 – February 15
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: Cherish the Day, “Synthesis” – Not going to let my sunshine go away again.
Evan (Alano Miller) and Gently (Xosha Roquemore) share a beautiful and entrapping moment in the second episode of Cherish the Day. While they’re sitting across from one another listening to Bill Withers’ song “Ain’t No Sunshine,” a moment of silence and starring happens that really intensifies the scene. As I watched I imagined the possibilities of what could be going through the two characters’ minds. Evan was looking towards Gently as if he was thinking how he wasn’t going to let their second encounter get away from him for another year. This was something that he was going to hold on to. Gently looked towards him as if she was still debating on how much of herself she wanted to let him be apart of. These two are still at the beginning of their journey, but they’re already exuding deep feelings for each other.
Comedy/Reality TV: High Fidelity, “Uptown” – Everybody deserves a little happiness.
Rob (Zoë Kravitz) heads to the Upper East Side to look at records from a rich lady who’s giving them away. After being hit with the ultimatum of only paying twenty dollars or leaving the amazing collection, Rob takes some time to decide whether she wants the records or not. Upon sitting down with the soon-to-be ex-husband (of whom the records belong), Rob ultimately opts to leave without the highly desired records. I wanted Rob to just take the records and not ask so many questions, but I loved hearing her reasoning behind why she couldn’t do it. Even though the guy probably deserved it, Rob thought it wasn’t fair to take away something that brought him so much joy. I admired her for taking the time and thinking about if it was her on the other end and how she would feel. It brought questions to mind like, “Does everyone deserve happiness?
Sci-fi/Fantasy: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – “Slay Anything” – Show them who you really are!
Nora (Courtney Ford) convinces Freddy (Seth Meriwether) to go back into the dance and be himself because he may be scared, but he can still be loved. This talk brings a fun dance moment into the mix and it was very enjoyable to watch. She even turned what was meant to be another prank on Freddy into balloons. It saved everybody from some of the horror for a little bit.
