Top 3 TV Moments – January 19 – January 24
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: Party of Five, “Authentic Mexican” – This is where I draw the line.
Seeing Emilio (Brandon Larracuente) stand up for his brother Beto (Niko Guardado) was a genuine and heartwarming moment. It was devastating to see the way Beto was being spoken to after already having to deal with the horribly stereotyped themed party. I’m glad Emilio finally drew the line somewhere, but I just wished he would have known that things were bound to go bad in a situation like this. Hopefully, he won’t make this mistake again.
Comedy/Reality TV: Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, “Green Asian Mantises” – Time to parent.
Nicholas (Josh Thomas) has to be a real parent for a moment and get Genevieve (Maeve Press), Barb (Lori Mae Hernandez) and Tellulah (Ivy Wolk) back under control as the three decided to try some new things while celebrating Genevieve’s birthday. I liked seeing Nicholas get serious for a few minutes but also maintain a bit of humor in the scene. The girls definitely felt embarrassed by their actions and Nicholas got his point across that what they did was wrong in a way that isn’t seen often on television. It’s usually a lot of yelling and then a calm moment, but all of this conversation was calm and that was nice to see.
Sci-fi/Fantasy: October Faction – “Soirées of Future Past” – “You can either face who you are or you can let it ruin you.”
I had no idea what this show was about until I started watching it and I’ve got to say that I’m loving it. The mystery of everything that’s happening with the October monsters and the old school sci-fi vibe is very enjoyable. In the fourth episode of the series Geoff (Gabriel Darku) and Viv (Aurora Burghart) are able to use their unfamiliar powers to stop things from happening. Geoff’s scene with Phillip (Praneet Akilla) on the roof was my favorite moment of the episode. He didn’t know how to handle what was happening to him, but he quickly pulled it together and made a connection with Phillip to get him to come down from the edge of the roof. I am liking the slow-pace of this show and how good of a job it’s doing in moving each characters story along.
