Top 3 TV Moments – March 21 – March 26
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: Queen Sugar, “May 27, 2020” – “The Talk”
Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) and Darla (Bianca Lawson) have to have “The Talk” with Blue (Ethan Hutchison) that every black parent must have with their child. The scene is every bit of heartbreaking that you think it will be and, once again, “Queen Sugar” does it in one of the realest ways possible. Ralph Angel doesn’t sugar coat having the talk of how Blue as a black boy will be treated differently and have to handle situations involving the police differently from others. The overall performance and writing brought a timely scene to life.
Comedy/Reality TV: Superstore, “All Sales Final” – Simmosa Endgame!
One of my favorite shows ever has, unfortunately, ended. While this show has given me so much more than a great couple to ship, I am here to talk about the simmosa endgame that gave me the closure I needed. After going through the final season without many scenes, Amy (America Ferrera) came back to join the team on their final closing. As the episode ended, we got a montage to see how the future looked for everyone. Seeing Amy and Jonah (Ben Feldman) on their honeymoon, hosting cookouts with everyone from the store and tucking their children into bed with the stars floating on the ceiling just like the iconic Jonah and Amy scene from Season One. The ending was perfect and I’m so glad “Superstore” was able to end their show on a good and clear note.
Sci-fi/Fantasy: The Irregulars, “Chapter 1: An Unkindness in London” – Terrifyingly chilling.
I was not expecting to see so many evil birds when I decided to tune into this series. However, the scene that made one of the best and terrifyingly grotesque moments from the premiere involved a ton of them. When Bea (Thaddea Graham) and her friends go looking for a girl who has been involved with the missing babies, they ended up getting chased down by a murder of crows. I am extremely afraid of birds, particularly huge ones, so watching all of these birds chase them down and scar their faces was scary for me to watch. By the end of the scene, the birds had murdered the girl by gauging her eyes out. It was a very chilling moment.
