Top 3 TV Moments – November 3 – November 8
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: 9-1-1, “Athena Begins” – Two stories. Two very different reactions.
Athena Begins was one of my favorite episodes of the series. I was drawn in from start to finish and the final scene really brought the episode together beautifully. After finally getting Emmett’s (Jeff Pierre) killer arrested Athena (Angela Basset) goes to tell his mother the news. At the same moment,we see Young Athena (Pepi Sonuga) going to tell his mother (Jeryl Prescott Gallien) about his unfortunate death. This scene (and entire episode) was so well directed. The way the screen jumped from past to present and showed the different reactions from his mother was powerful. You could just tell this story was handled with care. Sonuga played a young Athena so exceptionally well. I can’t speak enough about such a great moment and episode.
Comedy: The Unicorn, “Three Men Out – He got the digits after all.
Wade (Walton Goggins) may have finally found someone who will make a lasting impact. Wade met bartender Lena (Brittany Ishibashi) when he decided to go out to a bar he used to frequent. When he returned home he noticed that he scored a number – the bartender’s. I loved this moment because you could see that he didn’t overthink everything immediately. He went to the bar with the mission to have a fun and a stress free night. Thankfully, that is exactly what he did. I hope we get to see more of Lena.
Sci-fi/Fantasy: American Horror Story: 1984, “Rest In Pieces” – She has the power.
Margaret (Leslie Grossman) standing before Richard Ramirez (Zach Villa) and Bruce (Dylan McDermott) determining what will happen next was a huge power moment. She decided to turn the campgrounds from a festival into a murder festival. She even instructed Richard and Bruce to kill all the festival performers! Her plan to kill and profit from the festival goers is pretty brutal, but it’s definitely going to get Bruce’s count up. A very interesting moment indeed.
