Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!

Drama: Grey’s Anatomy, “It’s Raining Men” – Did Jackson do the right thing?

After Jackson (Jesse Williams) moves Dr. Koracick (Greg Germann) away from a surgery that he’s been trying to film, Jackson completes the surgery without any cameras to crowd the space. Schmitt (Jake Borelli) is so amazed at the surgery but challenges Jackson to think about how having the surgery filmed would have been amazing for others to see. It would have given them hope. I loved this moment because I was on Jackson’s side the entire time until Schmitt brought up this point. It was this idea that made me stop and think about how they both made good points on the situation. I agree that a family shouldn’t be pressured to be filmed while they’re going through such a tough time, but seeing the success of one case is sometimes better than just hearing or reading about it. It was a great thought-provoking moment.

Comedy: mixed-ish, “Love Is a Battlefield” – Culture the mixed way.

Bow Alicia (Tika Sumpter) and her sister, Denise (Christina Anthony), had a hard time relaying what their culture as black women was to Rainbow (Arica Himmel). In the end they realized that culture is more than just their ancestral background, but about their own personal experiences. Showing Bow that there is more to her culture helped her learn to love herself in a different way. Culture is about what you build in a community and a family. It’s a lot of things mixed into one and that’s definitely something that Rainbow can relate to as a mixed child. I also loved getting to see more of Alicia and Christine together on screen. Tika Sumpter has been great to watch as Bow’s mom and Denise is a lively character that adds so much more to the adult dynamic.

Sci-fi/Fantasy: Supergirl, “Stranger Beside Me” Lena may have gone too far.

When Lena (Katie McGrath) decides she finally has Eve (Andrea Brooks) where she wants her, she takes away Eve’s ability to control herself and inserts Hope (Kari Wahlgren) into her brain. Lena’s falling deep down the rabbit hole with this one and I don’t think she’s going to be happy with herself after the fallout. I am interested to see the aftermath of all of this rather than the process to the ultimate chaos. Watching Lena with this kind of determination in her eyes is scary to see so early on, but with hurt and betrayal who wouldn’t feel this way? I’m loving the small twists so far this season on “Supergirl,” wondering how a lot of it will play into the impending Crisis though.
