Top 3 TV Moments – September 22 – September 27
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments, so keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: Power, “King’s Gambit” – Goodbye, Proctor.
The craziest and most heartbreaking scene I saw this week was Tommy (Joseph Sikora) killing Proctor (Jerry Ferrara). In Proctor’s final moments, he had a conversation with his daughter that delivered all the emotions of one who knew his devastating fate. Having to tell your daughter that you won’t be seeing her again and her knowing exactly why has to be one of the scariest things to do. Proctor’s death at the hands of an enraged Tommy was completely brutal. I knew he was on a rampage, but I thought Proctor would make it out in time. It was definitely a game-changing moment in many ways for the final season.
Comedy: The Good Place, “A Girl From Arizona, Part 1” – None of this is real.
The Good Place is back for its final season and it brought us a lot of elements from Season One to set us up for the end. My favorite parts of the season opener were seeing Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) walk around without any care because she believes that she’s only in a coma. Howell-Baptiste is a class act and she never fails to shine in every scene she’s in. I had a lot of fun watching her flaunt around in her wacky outfit as she pushed those people into the pool with a huge smile on her face. It will be interesting to see what it takes to get her to believe what they are saying about being in “The Good Place.” But, until then, I can enjoy the hilarious ways she chooses to spend her time in the “coma.”
Reality TV: Basketball Wives, “Episode 15” – Chaos on top of more chaos
Although I am one to steer clear of drama myself, I absolutely love watching it unfold on a reality show. The ladies completely lost it while meeting to have a chill day by the pool. As soon as the women staying at the other house arrived things went completely downhill. The dramatics and chaos that took place were the most entertaining Basketball Wives has been in a long time. I laughed so hard I started to cry. Alcohol and anger do not mix, especially with these women. I was happy to see CeCe Gutierrez continue to stand up for herself after walking off multiple times from the arguments. I will say that Evelyn [Lozado] really got away from herself in those moments, but it was highly entertaining. These women are definitely dealing with real issues, but the way they go about handling them is more damaging than anything else.
