Tora Woloshin – True Legacy

Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) R&B pop with rock and hip-hop undertones.
Q) Who are some artists that inspired you growing up?
A) Mariah Carey
Q) You have been performing as young as age four and releasing music at ten years old. How has always being involved in the music world shaped you as an artist?
A) It has given me the resilience to continue on, knowing this is my purpose.
Q) Comparing music that you’ve created over the span of your career, how have you evolved musically?
A) Well, I started with fronting rock bands in my teens. Then, I went solo as a pop artist when I was eighteen years old; hoping to reach top charts with my songwriting.
Q) Your newest single “True Legacy” perfectly captures a summery feel in a song! What was the process like working on this song?
A) It was very fluid; just as the song feels. I received a few beats from an interested party (Bazzmansamphils) and fell in love with this one. I wrote to it instantly and recorded it in my bedroom.
Q) What do you think it is about this single that fans have connected to?
A) The message is straight forward and easy to relate to. The sound, fluid and smooth.
Q) There is a remix of “True Legacy” out now. What inspired you to revisit the track and made you decide to change things up from the original?
A) Bazzmansamphillz wanted to do a remix, so I agreed. There is a reggae version I play live with a band called Dukes of Roots and also an EDM remix coming soon!
Q) From dancing to singing to songwriting to filmmaking, you are an artist in every sense of the word. What drives you to be such a creative force?
A) I’m not too sure. All I know is that creating completes me. From the kitchen to the studio to a canvas…if I’m not creating something I’m not alive. [laughs]
Q) Reflecting on your time on “The X-Factor USA,” what did that experience teach you as a musician?
A) It taught me how far I can push myself, but more importantly, it reminded me what I want to represent as an artist and as a tiger can’t change i’s stripes. I cannot sacrifice my morals and ethics as an artist, a woman, a woman of color and multiple backgrounds or a human trying to better the world through her art.
Q) What artists/songs have you been listening to lately?
A) A lot of Motown and classics. Gotta keep the roots alive.
Q) Who are some dream collaborators you have?
A) MARIAH CAREY! [laughs] Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce
Q) With “True Legacy” out now, is there a full album or EP in the works?
A) YES! There is a lot in the works: from a holiday album to a life story album, buuuuut the most immediate release and event is Women’s Day on March 8th!

A) Thank you so much for seeing my vision and understanding my execution. We have only just begun.
