WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Diving Into Love is a brand new web series from the Philippines about family, learning to love yourself for who you are and moving on after a breakup. This LGBT series follows Sam (Axel Torres) and Andrei (Kid Yambao) on their personal journeys of self-discovery, including escaping from previous relationships…and finding each other along the way.

The chemistry between Torres and Yambao is the biggest highlight of the series by far. They seem natural together and play off one another effortlessly. A scene in the first episode where they’re traveling in a cramped van is everything romance fans could ask for and the part that really hooked me. The two steal glances at one another, exchange knowing looks and can’t seem to stop smiling. Sitting shoulder to shoulder, the attraction is evident as they both fail to play it cool. It’s composed entirely of non-verbal communication, which only makes the moment that much stronger. You can sense their thoughts and feelings solely from their facial expressions and body language and it definitely left me wanting more.

There’s also a big travel element to the series. Alongside the budding romance, Diving Into Love also showcases their picturesque setting of Puerto Galera, an island in the province of Oriental Mindoro. The beautiful backdrop compliments the episodes extremely well. A new potential relationship is always entertaining but add a romantic location into the mix and it’s even easier to get caught up in it. Falling in love on vacation is an inevitability.

If you’re in the market for a new series to follow, Diving Into Love is worth a look. There are currently two episodes available to stream with new episodes dropping every Saturday. I had some minor issues with the English subtitles about halfway through the second episode, but definitely still recommend this series. The show is lighthearted enough and teases some tension right from the jump. It’s sexy, it’s soapy, it’s a romantic getaway you should dive into.
