What? Gazelle: Le Petit Chien
Who? Created by Peter Hignett. Staring: Beth Mayoh and Dana Smit.
Why Should I Watch? From Emergency Room, a London-based production company, comes a hilarious mockumentary web series on a fictional French cosmetics inventor, Gazelle La France (Beth Mayoh). The series follows as she attempts (keyword, attempts) to launch her very own line of lipsticks.
The series is filmed very much with a reality television feel. The series also focuses on Samantha Wright (Dana Smit), Gazelle’s step-daughter, who thinks that her step-mother has a completely different motive behind her entrepreneurial venture.
The show is equipped with tear worthy one-liners, especially in the first episode as we witness Gazelle take to the streets (literally) of England in an effort to launch her lipstick line. We also see our first taste of drama between the dysfunctional family as Samantha verbally attacks Gazelle on her absurd redecorating of her late father’s home. Audiences also find out that Samantha was shipped off to boarding school and is planning on contesting her father’s will to gain control of his assets, which at this point, we can’t really blame her.
But before the drama continues, the episode ends with Gazelle finally receiving her big break in the form of a well-known public figure becoming the face of Le Petit Chien. The next two episodes follow the fallout of Gazelle’s overnight success and the ongoing investigation sought out by Samantha.
Where Can I Watch? The first three episodes are available now on Gazelle’s channel. You can also check out some great behind-the-scenes footage. Be sure to subscribe and check them out on social media @GazelleSeries as they look to crowdfund upcoming episodes!
