Web Series Wednesday – Sam and Pat are Depressed

WHAT? Sam and Pat are Depressed
BY: Undead Burrito Productions
WHY SHOULD I WATCH?
For starters, their series has an inclusion statement on their web page: “All members of our production crew live with mental illness-anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD. Our series was created by (and stars) a bi asexual woman, was directed by a gay man and our producing team is half people of color and half women.”
If you are looking to support a web series that prides itself on diversity and providing much needed and lacking representation in the media for the LGBTQAI+ community and regarding mental health awareness, then this is most certainly the web series for you. If you are still not convinced, I have two words for you: Bri Castellini (well, two words that make up a name). Bri is the writer, creator and one of the stars of this series. She is also the genius behind Brains and the film Ace and Anxious. Castellini has mastered the art of delivering relatable, authentic moments with a side of humor.
Both Sam (played by Bri Castellini) and Pat (played by Chris Cherry) are roommates who suffer from mental health illness and both go to a therapist regularly. Sam is a delusional narcissist and Pat is very high strung. So high strung that in the first episode he is concerned that his stories are depressing his therapist and even contemplates getting a second therapist so that he can confide in how he feels keeping certain stories hidden from his first therapist. Each episode is a new conversation between the two roommates talking about their newest therapy revelations or conundrums.
