Web Series Wednesday – Scissr
What? Scissr
Who? Written by Lauren Augarten. Starring Jamie Clayton, Kelly Sebastian, Lauren Augarten, and Paulina Singer
Why Should I Watch? Set in Brooklyn, four twenty-something lesbians find themselves glued to “SameSame,” a lesbian dating app. After a shout out from Niamh (Jamie Clayton), the four girls find themselves at a local bar, Scissor, for ladies night.
If I could describe this series in a few words, it’d have to be: everything I never knew I was missing from my life.
Laura Augarten (Aviva), writer and one of the stars on the show, so perfectly crafts a modern telling of what it’s like to be a single lesbian in the technologically modern world. With the incorporation of a lesbian dating app, paired with some of the best L Word references, this series is sure to stir up a few laughs and even tears…from laughing.
My favorite part of the series is the way we’re introduced to each character. Each girl brings with them a very different background as we meet them in their natural environments and learn a bit more about each of them. You’ll find it easy enough to spot the “Shane” of the group or the love-cursed artist. Cut to a close up of each character with their name and profile on “SameSame.”
Where Can I Watch? There’s good news and not so good news. The good news is that the pilot episode is available right now on YouTube, along with some hilarious and great behind-the-scenes content. The not so good news? The series is currently seeking more funding to bring this all too real series to life to bring you 6 more episodes ranging from 10-15 minutes. You can show your support by donating on their IndieGogo campaign and stay tuned for news and updates!
