Q) Please tell us the premise for the film The Electric State.

A) At its base, it’s a story about how far you would go for your family and the difficult decisions you have to make to put your family first.

Q) How was your character originally described to you?

A) It was an interesting conversation as the Russo brothers asked me to collaborate with how I felt about Christopher. He was described as a child prodigy who didn’t want to accept that fact.

Q) Did they have you read Simon Stalenhag’s book to help you prepare for the role?

A) I wasn’t told to read the book; however, we had bought the book once I found out I would be playing Christopher. So, I read the book a few times to get an overall feeling of what the film would be.

Q) Millie Bobby Brown plays your on-screen sister. What were some of your favorite moments from working together?

A) I hadn’t worked with someone so close to me in age for a while, so it was great to be on set with Millie and also see how she worked, as I had admired her work in “Stranger Things” growing up. It was a lot of fun working together and meeting the different rescue animals she would bring to set each day. When we went for reshoots, a year after we first wrapped, my first memory of me and Millie’s reunion was her stepping out of her trailer with a lamb that she had rescued and was bottle feeding it. She is very inspiring.

Q) Watching the robots on screen is incredible! What stood in their place while you were interacting during film?

A) The Motion Capture performers stood in place and acted their roles in place of the robot. I actually was lucky enough to be able to act as COSMO in MOCAP for a few of the scenes, something I had never done before.

Q) Talk about working with the iconic Russo Brothers as directors. What did you personally take away from your time working on this magical film?

A) The Russo brothers are amazing filmmakers and it was interesting to see how they work as a directing team. They exert an overall feeling of creativity and create a very welcoming and family feeling on set. I loved working with them. The fact that anyone can manage a huge film set with their brother is wild to me.

Q) How do you plan to celebrate when the movie hits the massive streaming platform Netflix this week?

A) On the day it is set to release we will order a take away and watch the film (A burger or Indian cuisine).

Q) What do you hope lingers with audiences that watch The Electric State – either as an emotion or message?

A) I hope you take away something that you enjoy, and that family is more than blood and can be found in people that may not even be related to you but the people that are closest to you.

Q) What are the other projects you have been busy working on lately?

A) I wrapped a film, Sukkwan Island, directed by Vladimir de Fontenay with my costar being the amazing Swann Arlaud late last summer and we were lucky enough to premiere in Utah at Sundance in February. We have lots more festivals coming up to promote this movie. I’ll be filming in Canada later this year for a project I’ve been attached to for a while, The Skeleton Tree, directed by Paul Barry. I’m really excited to finally get going with this one.
